Despite what the chronometer said it was far from the early hours of the morning for a certain Health and Safety Inspector. In fact, night was entirely relative when you were an android in space. Her shift having been moved about to allow for some 'late night' corridor inspections, wanting to disturb as little foot traffic as possible, Elwyn was minding her business having a lovely time checking over the control console for a localised fire suppression system for this section of the civilian quarters, making sure it was all up to scratch and Operations had performed their routine maintenance, all with a content smile on her face as she stood in the corridor outside of some potentially unlucky person's quarters. Safety waits for no one's sleep!

Disturbing everyone, no matter what they were doing, was the sound of the red alert klaxon booming through the quarters. It only lasted for a moment before it got cut off – and any lights, nightlights, computers, or PADDs suddenly went offline.

A moment later emergency lights kicked on. That was a sign that back-up generators were working, all of which controlled things like life support… But judging by how long it had taken to kick in, they weren’t functioning as well as normal… So how long would life support last?

Maggie narrowed their eyes as the alarm blared, prying off their mask with a sleepy grumble of discontent. Dressed in a star-patterned pair of pajama bottoms and a white tank top, pink hair a fluffy mess, they went to drag themself out of bed to see just what was the matter.

When the power went out entirely, so did Elwyn! Having looked up briefly as Red Alert had rang out, it was as all the lights went out that she suddenly collapsed, ragdolling to the ground, her tricorder being chucked across the floor in the process as she ended in a sad looking heap on the floor. Sleepy time!

"What a pain," the Magician mumbled to themself, prying the door open to find.... a corpse in front of them. Maggie blinked once, twice. "Well. This is incriminating." They frowned, prodding at Elwyn's side with a socked foot. "Hey, if you're dead, I'm gonna have to call my lawyer... So maybe... Don't be?" (edited)

Presuming the body was, in fact, dead, Maggie thought it better to go get help. Their PADD wasn't working, and the lights were on emergency mode... Turbolift probably wasn't working. Now what? They didn't want to be stuck with a probably-corpse. Lame. (edited)

After a brief moment of planning next steps, anyone who wouldn't be staying in the quarters headed off to make the ~~very fun, definitely not stressful and physically gruelling~~ journey to wherever they wanted to go. Assist the officers, check up on your businesses on the promenade... Do whatever you'd like, for you are Civilians and you are free!

From their heap on the ground Elwyn suddenly blinked, her eyes having been locked open the entire time they'd been a sack of metallic potatoes on the ground. Quickly standing up, a very confused look on her face, she looked around as she pushed some hair out of her face. Seeing her tricorder across the floor, the android went and picked it up, feeling entirely puzzled as to why it wasn't on. Switching it on, it rebooted just fine and they went back to inspecting the fire suppression system, completely unaware of the passage of time. "How odd." She commented idly before shrugging slightly. Back to it!

The android looked up as the music started playing, a puzzled look on her face only appearing for a brief moment before it was replaced with a grin. Finishing off her inspection, Elwyn began doing a little boogie as she moved her way down the corridor towards the next section she needed to inspect. Frankly, her day was going pretty darn well, at least in her opinion.
