AFS NEW DAWN / ndn-sickbay

Lt. JG. Mirrim Katjiary | MED BOT 10-Dec-23 03:45 AM
Once they reached the sickbay, Mirrim scanned the room, both for anything unusual as well as the person in charge, so she could request permission to check over Eshen. She did appear to be a little nervous, but that could easily be attributed to other factors than them suspecting something fishy going on.

In sickbay was the Rigelian CMO going about his day. There was nothing unusual aside from perhaps the fact that this Rigelian seemed a lot less rigid than one may expect from the species, but cetainly no suspicious activity. He noticed the doors to sickbay opened and went to go see who was there. "Hey there," He said with a wave and a smile. Yep, definitely more flamboyant than your typical Rigelian.

Lieutenant Eshen K'Tann | CMD BOT 10-Dec-23 03:51 AM
Eshen arrived with Mirrim, summoning all his theatrical experience to mime being a little unsteady on his feet, clutching his head. "Ugh, I hate transporter sickness." The fun thing about it was it was just like being seasick - an effect of travel, not a disease or an injury that might would show up on scans, so he wouldn't be busted if this guy waved a tricorder at him.

"Hello there, apologies for the unexpected interruption. Could I possibly use your equipment to check over the Lieutenant? He seems to have rather bad transporter sickness and I'd rather treat it now than later." She was trying her best to walk the line between sounding demanding enough to convey that she didn't plan to take no for an answer without offending the CMO. It was his sickbay after all.

Sriinip lifted an eyebrow of concern when he heard the Klingon-Vulcan mention transporter sickness. He did not recognise him nor the Orion, but then he remembered that they had visitors coming from the Eventide. These two must have been from that ship, hence the sickness. "I am not busy now, I can tend to him," As friendly as Sriinip was, he also didn't think there was a reason to make visitors handle medical issues when he was more than capable of doing so! The Rigelian, two spines and all, was unaware that doing this may have made him seem more suspicious.

This was not how this was supposed to go at all. Mirrim paused for a moment trying to come up with a way out of this. "Thank you for the offer, sir, but I wouldn't want to impose that on you too, it's unfortunate enough that we need to be here to begin with.” After a short pause for dramatic effect she added. “Plus, treating the Lieutenant is something I can easily do.” She was aiming for the ‘desperate to prove herself’ vibe. Hopefully the CMO would pity her and let her heroically save her crew member from the minor threat of (fake) transporter sickness.

Sriinip's smile faded and he looked towards the Klingon-Vulcan and then back to the Orion medical officer. This was his sickbay, but he also didn't want to cause any friction with their guests. It was a minor thing, but he also wondered what exactly this 'wellness check' entailed and if that was the real reason these people were coming into his sickbay. "Alright then," Sriinip said with his eyes still on the medical officer. "Is there anything I can do to help?" He asked, his happy expression returning.

Lieutenant Eshen K'Tann | CMD BOT 10-Dec-23 04:42 AM
It wouldn't be that complicated to treat him either way - "I think I just need some painkiller hypos and some anti-nausea medicine." It wasn't the best idea to take medication when you didn't need it, but the side effects of those things were minimal. "Unless I've actually caught some kind of flu you guys have got going around. I know it can be pretty hard to keep that kind of thing contained on airtight ships. Everyone doing alright?"

"No influenza here," Sriinip replied with a shake of his head and wave of his hand. He then rubbed the back of his neck with his hand as he thought about how to answer the lieutenant. "Well, I s'ppose," The Rigelian spoke slowly, clearly with something more to say, but it seemed there was something holding him back. He glanced left and right, as if checking for something and then looked back at the command officer. "Ehh, I don't know if this is really like... a medical problem, but a few members of senior staff have been refusing to come in for their routine physicals," Spirrnip sighed and looked away from the two other officers. "I don't want to jump to conclusions, but it did strike me as odd, I don't want to think there's a problem with myself or any of the other medical officers for that matter that may be causing tension with the others."

Senior staff not coming in for their routine physicals? Strange. Sure, there were some people who refused to cooperate when that time came, but they were usually over it by the time they became senior staff. It was possible that there was something physical going on here, but he didn't know what quite yet. "You seem like a nice guy - I'm sure it's not anything you've done," he said, giving Sriinip he best reassuring (and perhaps charming) smile.

Senang had been here the whole time, his player just fell asleep. The CMO seemed trustworthy enough, and Eshen and Mirrim seemed to have it handled, so he didn't have to jump in. The senior officers not coming in for their physicals was concerning though, and he was glad to see that the doctor kept good track of his patients. "Is there anyone in particular you've been worried about?" he asked, framing the interest in whoever wasn't coming in as concern rather than suspicion.

[D] A while after the initial three walked in Sadhbh entered sickbay. After finishing her initial report on the distress call to Starfleet Command, she decided to start with sickbay to see if the CMO knew if anything strange was going on with the ships crew. "Right, sorry for being late paperwork waits for no one, what's the situation here?" She asked after walking into room.

"Thank you, I appreciate that," Sriinip bowed his head to the Vulcan-Klingon officer, happy that at least one person was happy with his company in sickbay. He frowned when the Vulcan lieutenant asked for specific names and had to think for a moment. Just before the CMO could give a response, someone else entered the room-- there were more of them? Just how many people were here for this 'wellness check'? Not that Sriinip disliked the company, but now he was growing suspicious that something else was afoot. "Hello Commander," Sriinip waved at Sadhbh. "Well this nice and handsome officer has a case of transporter sickness, I was just telling him and the medical officer that they can use any tools in this sickbay to treaat him," The CMO explained. "And I had just mentioned how some senior staff were refusing to come in for their physicals. I suppose the person most suspicious is Captain Tewari herself, I thought we had built up a strong rapport, but clearly not strong enough as she has been avoiding her routine physical. I can't really say I know more than that. There are some others too, the COO and CTO are two others, but they're Klingon, I feel like my relationship with them is a little more... To put it short, I am a lover, not a fighter."

Sadhbh gave Eshen a quick nod when the CMO mentioned his case of transporter sickness. "Three department heads ignored their mandatory physicals? As a Chief Medical Officer don't you have the authority to order them to submit to a physical?" Sadhbh asked questioningly. Not sure what to make of this crew just yet.

Sriinip did a sharp inhale through his teeth like he was some judgemental Korean uncle, but no he was just a Rigelian dude who wanted to enjoy space with some friends. "Technically yes, however it's not like I can physically drag them to sickbay. And especially not the Captain, I would never do that to her in the first place, she's my friend," Sriinip responded with a conerned look about his face as he looked at the human commander.

*Seeing as she now indirectly had approval to use the medical facility Mirrim went to look for the medication she'd usually treat transporter sickness with. This was partially so she could remove herself from the conversation, seeing as she was more confident in the other's ability to stir the situation in the right direction than her own. While walking around the sickbay she kept her eye open for anything that might seem off, but did so at a pace that would not make them appear any more suspicious than they already were. The things she gathered shouldn't have any lasting side effects if taken without cause, but she was still hoping that she'd either be able to make it look like she was giving them to Eshen without actually doing so or they'd manage to avoid the situation through other means. *

Sadhbh decided not to press the breach of protocol any further in an effort to not be too suspicious, considering all that was happening it was probably best not to be bad houseguests ok the new dawn.

Lieutenant Senang | TAC BOT 10-Dec-23 01:52 PM
"Thank you for your help, sir," Senang told the CMO, looking around as he waited for Mirrim to return. From what the CMO was saying, and the way he was saying it, there wasn't likely to be anything here that would point to the reason why the senior staff was acting strangely. Once the junior lieutenant "treated" Eshen, they would be good to go, as far as he was concerned.

Mirrim's observations of the medical bay didn't yield anything untoward. It was a curious space given that there were technologies from all three factions being used, but it genuinely did appear to be a regular medical bay.

After some time she returned to the group and set out to 'treat' Eshen. If possible she'd lead him somewhere where he could sit down, said place hopefully being a small distance from where the others were standing so she could conveniently look like she was doing what she was supposed to do without actually giving him anything pain numbing. The anti-nausea medicine she’d just hand to him, so he could either take it or pretend that he did depending on whether he thought he could convincingly pretend to ingest it.
