Star Trek: Starbase 777 - containment-room-two

C'Telle entered, looking around warily, phaser raised.

The room had been silent in anticipation until the person walked in. Upon taking note of the Starfleet uniform, the group of adults amassed here burst into applause. "Is it true?!" One of them asked - a wide-eyed Saurian woman who peeked around the door to see if this was reality or just some other trick. "You've managed to stop them - you're here to rescue us?!"

C'Telle stared at them silently for a moment, before slowly lowering his phaser. He hesitated, letting out a breath of relief. "The hostages. We are. You'll be safe on our ship. Are any of you hurt?" He felt himself fall into a rhythm; he had dealt with hostages a few times before. He was shaky, but his voice was sure and he moved with efficiency despite his tiredness.

There were shakes of the head all around and other mumbles of the negative in different languages. "No, no, we're all alright. We wanted to help, but... They told us that they had the floors electrified, and they would kill our children if we tried to leave this room. Please, they're right around the corner -- may we see them?"

C'Telle held up a hand. "Let me notify my superiors first before we do anything." He tapped his commbadge. "Lieutenant Voxellus, I have a room here full of adult hostages requesting to see their children. Have the children been located, and if so do I have permission to let the adults see them?" While he waited for an answer, he turned and gave a small smile to everyone. "We've sorted all that stuff out. Don't worry about things like electric floors."

Once he received the Lieutenant's message, he nodded. Oh boy. Keeping parents from their children was a daunting task. "We're currently working out some kinks. I know you all want to see your kids, but I'm afraid I must ask all of you to remain here for the time being. We're working as fast as we can."

"Please, we've been here for so long..." The Saurian stated, desperate... But then perked up at the sound of yelling in the background. Excited yelling. "I can hear them! They're through there!" She shouted, looking around the corner with glee.

It was only the people who had been brought here without any family who remained waiting. Everyone else (in a similar fashion to the children) couldn't contain themselves, booking it through to the other room.
