Lorin looked around. She was very quiet.

Stepping up to the door before taking a breath as it opened, her phaser aimed within and not having to check the other two due to how fluid they seemed to work as one.

Elwyn followed, her rifle raised.

The hallway made its way around to the front of the lab, until the group was suddenly stopped by a grid of lasers like the ones you’d see in a spy movie.

She would reach out to her right and stop whoever it was from bypassing her and hopefully preventing them from hitting the lasers. “Lieutenant. It appears we have a laser grid.”

[Comms] “Well that’s convenient. The other half of your team said they’ve come across a computer. I’ll see if I can get them to do anything about this. Stand by.”

Elwyn kept her rifle trained on the team’s 6 in case anyone came up behind them.

She pulled them towards the wall as they awaited further instruction.

The laser grid suddenly went offline.

“Should we go? Who knows how long the grid will be gone.” She said.

[Comms] “Grid down, move now. You’ve only got ten minutes. Four persons in that room ahead behind that door.”

She nodded as she headed in, phaser at the ready, “You two handle the right, I’ll take left. Then converge.”

“Got it.” Elwyn replied with her rifle raised. (edited)

As the doors opened there were what looked like three scientists and one guard. The guard immediately raised their weapon but didn’t open fire, surprisingly.

She didn’t hesitate as she pointed towards the scientists, leaving the guard and one scientist to the ensigns, “Lower your weapon immediately and we won’t give you a hangover tomorrow.”

She was behind Hanna, phaser raised.

“Shoot and this whole place goes up with you in it.” The guard replied in return, his voice stern yet very serious sounding. Wait, was he a Vulcan? Or a Romulan? He had pointy ears either way. Around the team it appeared the scientists, of whom all put their hands above their heads except one, which was still carefully trying to finish what they were doing so the entire room didn’t explode. The room itself, from a scientific point of view, appeared to be a lab associated with the usage of Trilithium. Uh oh. Maybe the guard did have a few braincells.

Elwyn focused her rifle on the guard but didn’t fire.

She likewise didn’t fire, but stepped up closer to the guard before holding her hand out for his weapon, her own moving to her hip, knowing her crew had her back, “Hand over your weapon or we’ll shoot.”

“I know Starfleet isn’t dumb enough to do that.” The guard replied bluntly, his weapon still pointed at Stone.

She sighed before stepping up closer to him, her hand moving to touch the muzzle of his weapon before attempting to push it towards the ground and away from her, “And neither are you. So why don’t you put it down and we can say you put up a fight if that’s what you want. We simply want to remove you from the premises. No casualties. It’s far too much paperwork.”

“What’s your goal here, anyway? Why come to this lab? This base?” The guard asked as he used is strength to try and prevent his weapon from being moved away from Stone.

She raised an eyebrow as she looked him over before using her other hand to hold his nearest wrist in an attempt to control his arm better, not using her full strength just yet as his finger was still on the trigger. “I’m not going to talk shop until you stop threatening me with a phaser. Neutral ground or nothing.”

"Very observant, Starfleet. NOT. It's a disruptor, not a phaser. And why would I drop mine when you're all pointing yours at me? Hmm?" The guard replied.

She continued to step closer until she was in a well enough position to pull it from his hands with ease should be deny a third time to release, “Should you not, we won’t tag you and will leave you behind.” She continued to give him her full attention before addressing the ensigns, “Tag each of the scientists present.” Then switching her tone before addressing the Lieutenant, “Lieutenant. I need to confirm with you that transports are ready regarding the scientists once they move back to the medical wing. The ensigns will escort them out as this guard is willing to sacrifice themselves instead of coming with.” Her tone was serious but she was hoping that Dagis would understand her bluff rather than call her out on it as she was too close to properly judge if this guard could hear the lieutenant’s words.

“Leave me behind? Leave me behind for what?” The guard asked, frankly sounding confused at this point. It was as he listened to what Stone said next, though, that something clicked in his mind and a look of realisation crossed his face. “Ooooh… You’re gonna blow the base up, aren’t you? Should’ve seen that one coming.” He said as he let go of his weapon. “Fair enough. Value my life over this job anyway.”

Elwyn, seeing the guard drop his weapon, went to tag some of the scientists as instructed, all while still keeping an eye on Stone.

She moved to tag the rest of the scientists.

She contained the weapon first before taking his hands and zip tying them together before placing a tag on the front of their uniform. “Good choice. Now are you going to behave or are we going to have to get persuasive?” She raised an eyebrow at him before waiting for his response.

“No, no, you’ve persuaded me enough.” The guard replied honestly. “Like I said, don’t wanna get blown up. Especially not in here.”

[Comms] “These guards are either as thick as a bulkhead or as self-centred as a sun’s gravitational pull.”

She nodded, satisfied as she offered, “We can remove you four into the med wing as a precaution so long as this… thing. Is stable enough for you to walk away.” Her eyes roaming over what the scientist had been working on. (edited)

One of the scientists spoke up. “It’s stable. That’s why I finished what I was doing.”

“Aww, how thoughtful!” Elwyn said cheerily with a smile.

Nodding her head as she looked to the door, mentally counting the minutes until the lasers would show up again; they were cutting it close. “Alright now. Single file or I’ll get a rope to lead you like you’re new recuits. Ensign Preston if you don’t mind leading the way and Ensign Redwood take up the side.” Her head turned to the device on the table before addressing her lieutenant, “Lieutenant. Regarding the equipment in the room, do you want me to tag it for removal or leave it here in the base.”

She moved to the side. “We should get going. Those lasers won’t be gone for long.”

[Comms] “For the love of all that is logical please tag everything you can. If I’ve heard right and that stuff goes up it might not just this base that’ll go with it.”

Elwyn nodded, but not before chucking her remaining transporter tags at Hanna, before heading out into the hallway outside the lab to lead everyone to the #medical-facility.

She nodded as she began tagging everything in sight, waiting until the ensigns, scientists, and guard were through the opening of the door, “Sorry Lieutenant. I wasn’t sure if this equipment was something we’d want on board if it was activated or not. Saying so in front of the scientists might have had them suggest we take it, as they seem to have given up their positions very rapidly.” She did look over the various implements for anything that could be an explosive device or something timed, all the while continuing to count down until the lasers were back and stepping out when she had only a few seconds left.

[Comms] “I just don’t want them to all blow up.”

There were the makings of what looked like a few weapons, but most of it was just raw components. As soon as Hanna stepped out of the lab and away from the lasers they turned back on after only a couple of seconds.

She spoke over Comms for a second before going back to the group, “It appears to be stable and most weapons are in some level of deconstruction. Please be advised on gentle transport when moving them. Would you like me to start asking the scientists details or reserve that for the chief?”

[Comms] “Details would be appreciated, but most of them will probably be too scared or too loyal to say much.”

Nodding her head in thought before realizing Dagis couldn’t see this. “Alright. I’ll do the best I can. How long until transport or does somewhere else need assistance?”

[Comms] “Unknown as of now. Go back to your team and get info from the scientists. What they were working on is a threat to everyone’s lives.”

She would make her way down the hall.
