Kya hummed as she sat at the tactical station, her fingers moving like a violin players artistry as she went over their tactical systems. She wasn’t expecting much that would require her exact skillset, but it wasn’t out of the question. “Tactical systems are green.”

Stood at the tactical station, having elected to go to the bridge, being the CTO, Vara'l idly noted Kya again. Noted them and was silent as he idly started his own check of the systems. He'd familiarise himself with this Lieutenant commanders specialisation and while he was beyond contended to let them get about it..storms were storms. So he double checked..and ran checks on the shields and defensive systems. As he did so he also directed the computer to bring up information about storms like that and the like. He needed information. He needed data. He needed to know what to expect in more depth than he already did.

This wasn’t Vrii’s first rodeo. It was Kiadras’s, though. The instructor had a bright smile on her face despite the situation. It was always best to try and keep positive. She sat near Kya, whom she remembered from the…parasitic fiasco only a few weeks prior, and her ACTO. Had she…properly spoken to him yet? Whatever. It was certainly a busy first month for the Trill who could punch people real good, “Little rain never hurt anyone,” She said with a joking grin. (edited)

Being called out on an immediate deployment was admittedly part of the job of a Starfleet officer, but what always made the Eventide's situation unique was because it essentially acted as a response ship; It was always stationary until needed, and then it deployed rather than diverted course. Entering the bridge, one of the two command centres they were so familiar with, Xaran overheard the chatter amongst the bridge crew as they began circling around counter-clockwise, glancing over everyone's shoulders while they worked to silently check on everyone's status as their antennae idly moved on their head.

*Due to Saros having bridge training, he was called to help with the Bridge of the Eventide. He was slightly nervous as this was his first official mission on a ship since the Borg attack. But, he had taken extra medication and was in the middle of extra meditation before being called early. He should be able to fulfill his duty appropriately for the time being. He moved to a free console ready to help. * (edited)

Better late then never the now rarely seen former Deputy Commander of 777 Sadhbh stepped onto the bridge. "I hear we're evacuating a planet today? Been a while since ive had the pleasure since command named me 'Warplanner Extraordinaire', Permission to come aboard Commander?" Sadhbh asked Xaran, out of politeness since it was their ship.

Glancing over at Sadhbh as she spoke and asked permission to board, the hybrid all but turned away as they continued their walk around the bridge. "Denied, there's a five Commander limit on this bridge." They deadpanned, only to turn and give the Mission Advisor a light smile. "You really don't need to ask, Commander. I mean for one, you're already aboard the ship. Might as well make yourself useful."

"Setting your own rules now I see?" Sadhbh teased. "I dunno I might need to run that one up the chain see what the Captain thinks with that one!" Sadhbh decided to hop onto one of the comms stations since tactical was already taken, managing logistics of away teams and evacuation ships in a situation like this could get messy. "Welcome aboard boss!" Sadhbh called out when she saw Rhea walk aboard the bridge and noted Allan a second later. She wordlessly cupped her hands for allen to chuck a sweet in her direction with a cheeky smile on her face.

Allan walked over to the tactical gang first, since they were right next to eachother assumedly. "Any preference, Commander? "The real question is which Captain? We have three, and one's on my bridge right now." Xaran responded with a chuckle, before raising an eyebrow at Allan's entry and offer. Walking over to the ACEO, faux judgemental look now spread across their face, they silently took one of the sweets and pocketed it. "If I have a sugar crash later it's on you, Lieutenant." They jokingly deadpanned, before returning to their route around the bridge, trying to to show their amusement at the Captain doing exactly the same thing.

Allan was only slightly nervous when he saw Xaran walk up to him after the last time he was here on the bridge, even though that had gone perfectly well even with all the gay handholding. He looked down at them with a smile, and nodded in understanding at their joke about the sugar crash. "Understood, Commander," he said, before tossing a random candy - avoiding the works and instead picking out a normal caramel sort of candy - over at Sadhbh. "Very essential," he agreed with Kiadras. And then oh hey, Five came onto the bridge! He immediately went over to him, leaning only slightly against the console as he held out his bag in front of him. "Heyyyy, Five, want some candy? I've got just about every kind in the galaxy here." Okay, maybe not that many, but the shop was called Milky Way Wonders!!

"Oh, hi!" Lighting up, Five poked his head over to peek in the bag. He swiped a toffee and a soft caramel. "Thanks a bunch. Please don't accidentally press any buttons," he laughed, gently trying to shoo him off of the console. "Let's get ready to go, then?"

"A whole bucket? Hell yeah, go for it, Commander," Allan said to Sadhbh, and he laughed a little when Five told him not to accidentally press any buttons, tilting his head to the side as he looked down at said console. "I'm fiiine, I'm very aware of where my body's at all times, very important skill, really, but it's actually more important to note that the pressure at which I'm leaning against the console is about mm, three millibars too short to press anything? Also, you know, the touch isn't registered by my uniform, but-" He laughed a little again before he did lean up off the console, taking a step back towards his own. "That's just, ah, nerdy shit, though..." his attention was drawn away for a bit when he saw a familiar ensign walk in. They met at that pizza party once, and they were... they definitely had a name.. "Hey, Talil! Want some candy?" As far as he knew, his role was giving out candy until this ship was gonna go out.

"Never trust a candy peddler unless they're sanctioned by Starfleet." Xaran said jokingly as they made their way into the centre of the bridge, just barely loud enough for everyone else on the bridge to hear.

Looking over as the Lieutenant called their name and offered them candy, Jayselle couldn't help but internally feel just a tad bit bemused. Why was the ACEO offering them candy? Either way, it would be impolite to ignore the offer. Stepping over towards Allan, they reached into the bag and pulled out a single confection of some sort, offering him a polite smile as they did. What in New Dawn's name was a 'butterscotch'? "Thank you, Lieutenant." They responded equally as politely as their smile. Was it genuine thanks, or was it out of politeness? It was practically impossible to tell.

Vara'l continued his own work as he'd also checked and re-checked his own work and the work of the other officers on tactical. The Romulan adding his experience to theirs with every silent movement he undertook . Worked and noted whatever there was to be noted about the conduct of both officers, contended at the moment to simply let them do their jobs and learn more about them both. If he needed to intercede he'd intercede, right now banter and the like between officers was useful especially with what they were going into. It kept up morale. It helped with nerves. Elements he wished he knew how to take part in it in a way he considered any way efficient. Small talk was still something that seemed like a indecipherable code to him, at least with people he wasn't absolutely used to, in work situations. No.. Vara'l elected to focused on the information that the computer had collated about storms and the like. Refreshed his own knowledge and started to add to it as he worked.

"Aye sir, sealing airlocks and clearing moorings." The helmsman swivelled back round to their console and began tapping away, coinciding with several clunking sounds around the ship. The information Vara'l gathered contained some interesting intel about Helios' current storm problem. It had only been theorised that a storm this size could form, but the predicted ecological impact was immense.

Lt. Cdr. Vara'l tr'Hara | TAC BOT 30-Aug-24 09:42 PM
Vara'l marked the elements of that storm problem of tactical use for retention in the tactical consoles as he continued his work. "I've collated some information regarding the storm, the intel as it stands looks like it could be potentially interesting if analysed by the science station, request permission to Pass science a copy sir." Vara'l proceeded to said then as he spoke up and reported on what he'd discovered to the Commander or well..commanders and uh...captain. * *As he did so, Vara'l directed the tactical console to analyse the storm as it stood and all information gathered around it and to flag any potential risks to the ship from a Tactical perspective. If this things emissions could be a risk to the ship if the shields weren't raised or even if the shields were raised, he wanted to know.

With Yellow alert having been called, Vara'l had then followed through with Starfleet policy. Tapped the series of commands that ensured the ships tactical systems moved to Yellow Alert readiness with weapons systems ready but offline at present and defensive systems like shields readied. Alongside this, following protocol, Vara'l also then proceeded to run the checks that were required to ensure the ships tactical systems were readied for a crisis situation. One like a evacuation in the middle of a sort of storm only theorised about. Running an additional check on the shields as he also checked to see the process of the tactical analysis of the storms risk.

After the Eventide dropped out of warp Sadhbh tried to get a communications signal down to the surface, usually when there was an evacuation there would be some kind of emergency beacon or channel left to broadcast shelters and evacuation corridors. Sadly in this case the hails fell on silent static. "Damn, I can't get through to anything on the surface not even emergency pings that should be coming from shelters." Sadhbh leaned back in her chair slightly frustrated.

Vara'l looked out at the view screen image for a moment before, with a series of tapped commands, he'd then called the tactical readouts from the sensors over to the console to him. These from one of the other consoles. Once they were called up he then looked them over, attempted to discern what the tactical readouts showed and what they hadn't detected. If there were ships or anything in the system with them, that and if any emissions could be detected by the tactical sensors from the planet.

The scans of the planet had started to arrive, and it became apparent it was 100% total cloud cover - it didn't matter how the resuce times got to the surface, it was going to be a bumpy ride. The comms officer on duty called out to the senior staff on the bridge. "I've just got word that the USS Thunderbird and USS Monarch are on their way, estimated to arrive in about an hour and a half."

"From these scans, it looks like any form of transit down to the surface is going to be..a bumpy one." The Romulan observed simply as he looked over the scans then glanced to the comms officer and back to the Commander. "Cloud cover on the planet is 100% total."
Avatar
Cdr. Xaran Aisut | CMD BOT 31-Aug-24 07:45 PM
The view of the planet across the viewscreen was far from reassuring, but they wouldn't have been called out if it wasn't an emergency so the cloud cover really wasn't all that surprising. Then, a fimiliar name rang out across the bridge. "No need to pull up the specs on the Monarch, Commander, I know that ship quite well." Xaran called out from their position in the Command chair. They knew it and its predecessor well, having lived on one and read about the other. "It's specifically the Monarch-A, the old Monarch was retired years ago. It's a heavily modified Scott-class Operations Miracle Worker Cruiser. It's designed to provide engineering and operational support in times of crisis. It carries far more shuttlecraft and runabouts than the average ship, and it has a swarm of Workerbees, too. If I remember correctly the evacuation capacity is somewhere within the five thousand range." Standing up, the hybrid stretched ever so slightly to work the kinks out of their back from having sat for perhaps a little too long. "Communications, forward all of our data we're collecting to the Thunderbird and Monarch as we receive it. I want them to have a clearer picture than we did when they arrive so they can strategize on route." They instructed, clasping their hands behind their back as they spoke. "How bumpy are we talking? I'm concerned sending shuttles and runabouts down there would be suicidal."

Lt. Cdr. Kya Pok | TAC BOT 31-Aug-24 08:00 PM
She hummed. “Respectfully, I would trust shuttles more than transporters in this scenario.”

Lt. Cdr. Vara'l tr'Hara | TAC BOT 31-Aug-24 08:07 PM
"I can direct the tactical console to run simulations." The Romulan responded at the question. "But a storm of this size was only theorized about previously." He continued on to say. "But in theory, shuttles and runabouts sent would be under heightened stresses from a storm of this size." The Romulan considered the readouts for a moment and called up specs for the shuttles and run outs. "It'd be fairly bumpy, strain inertial dampening and likely stress shields, I can with some cooperation with engineering and science to run a simulation based on shuttle and run about specs would get you the clearest picture of the stresses sir." The Romulan paused and glanced to the lieutenant commander then before he looked back to the Commander. "The Danger related to transit will be there no matter what method of transit we use, though with preparation it might be ameliorated somewhat." Vara'l had added then as he mentally filed away this situation as one he'd later scrutinise. (edited)

Cdr. Xaran Aisut | CMD BOT 31-Aug-24 08:49 PM
"I fear we don't have that much prep time. It took us half an hour to get here, in which time who knows how much more damage has been done." Xaran responded to Commander tr'Hara simply, before looking over at Commander Pok with a half smirk. "Who said anything about using shuttles?" They responded, before turning to face the the majority of the bridge crew. "It's too dangerous to use transporters, shuttles will be turned into old fashioned washing machines, and even if we could use them it'd take far too long to ferry people and resources back and forth through that storm." There was a brief pause then, as their eyes glanced around the bridge before they continued. "But, if we flew Eventide into the planet's atmosphere, down beneath the storm, we'd have a shorter distance for them to travel and we wouldn't risk sending shuttles into a category ten storm." They stated in a matter of fact tone, hands still clasped behind their back, only to gesture at the ACEO a moment after. "Lieutenant, you understand Engineering better than I ever could. What are your thoughts?"
Avatar
Lt. Cdr. Vara'l tr'Hara | TAC BOT 31-Aug-24 09:02 PM
Vara'l nodded once then. "Understood Sir." The Romulan responded simply before, at the question directed to Pok, Vara'l straightened slightly. Straightened and started to mentally run through potential risks to the ship from doing so. As he had done so, the Romulan checked his console to see if it had flagged any risks to the ship from the storm for tactical attention and the progress of the tactical analysis. Given what the Commander had decided to do, Vara'l checked the shields and other tactical systems once more. Given what they were about to do, the ships defensive systems might well be needed soon, he observed silently to himself. Grey eyes flicked to the tactical readouts, specifically the scan element of it as he watched the readout about the planet and the cloud system there. Watched and felt his jaw tense as his mind analysed the information he saw. Presented him with a tactical drones understanding of the effect of it on beings. Something that had then caused him to tense his jaw. (edited)

Lt. Allan Allen | ENG BOT 31-Aug-24 09:09 PM
When Vara'l had pointed out the heightened stress that would be put onto the shuttles, Allan nodded, and nodded again when Xaran had said they'd turn into 'old fashioned washing machines'. Not a lovely image by any means, but a true statement nonetheless. As the Commander started to suggest just straight up flying into there beneath the storm, he tipped his head to the side, tapping his fingers lightly against the console as he thought about it - and then the Commander addressed a question straight at him. "Ahhh, yeah, Commander, that - seems like our best bet here, it'd shorten the transit distance enough to avoid a shitton of the stressors the shuttles would have to go through at a higher release point... the structural integrity field's going to be our biggest worry there, we'd have to reroute some additional power to that and also direct the electrical activity from the storm away from us as much as possible to avoid, God forbid, an overload of it - adjusting the shield harmonics and modifying the deflector array should be able to handle it, though, if we do that right - it's... feasible, if that all turns out alright." Vara'l, standing at a tactical console, considered what Lieutenant Allen said about the structural integrity field and that. Considered what they said about adjustment of the shield harmonics and nodded along a bit as he mulled over what they said. While he wasn't as well versed in the engineering side of things there, he knew defence systems more than he did when he'd started with this, given his experience as ACTO. "I concur with Lieutenant Five of Eight Sir." He then looked to Lieutenant Commander Pok then. What..did she mean, secure the ships weaponry. Everything had been prepared per yellow alert protocol. So..he softly asked. "What are you intending to do, Lieutenant Commander?"

Let's get to it." The Commander said, clapping their hands in front of themself and rubbing them together as a look of determination spread across their face. "Engineering, increase the strength of the structural integrity field, and adjust the shield harmonics and modify the deflector array to direct the storm's electrical activity away from our hull. Commander Vrii, take the helm. Operations, prepare all six of our shuttlecraft for departure. Communications, inform all decks to prepare for turbulence." They instructed before turning and sitting down once more. "Once all stations are ready we will begin our descent."

"Heyyy, #EngieSquad, you think you guys could modify the deflector array down there to direct the storm's electric shit away from our hull? Just a matter of scattering ionized particles more effectively, really, and channel any electrostatic discharge away from critical systems - ASAP, if that's all good. Vara'l called up the shield readout to his console and routed a smaller weapons readout onto the console he was on as well. He needed to know what was being done. Yellow alert didn't tend to require stuff being done to the weapons in a crisis situation of this sort after initial preparation warranted by Yellow Alert, he'd noted. So what was there to be 'secured' in the weapons? Thats why he'd asked his query. A query he waited for a response to. *Vara'l then monitored the shield readouts and percentages as they started their transit. Monitored that alongside with other tactical readouts related to the ships defence systems status and TAC hull integrity readouts *

There's a lot better chance we can find people who've holed up and find administrators with better knowledge of civil defence infrastructure and plans than we've got right now. We won't be able to do much good if we wont know where people went to ground to avoid the worst of the storm." Sadhbh listed off her thoughts and put a map of the planets major cities up on the viewer for the conn officer and Xaran to choose from.

Alright. That's...terrifying. But even still, Kiadras felt a surge from his memories of Arliaz. Flying through a storm of that magnitude, doing it successfully, could you imagine... "I can take a shuttle down. Swear," He stared out the viewfinder before grinning to the commanders in charge, "You gotta put me in, coach. Coaches."

She took a breath as she looked at the chaos, letting out a small huff. “Tactical should be on the look out for debris that could cause us harm and try to find uh, risk mitigation opportunities.”

"Lieutenant Commander Pok, what did you mean by your previous comment related to the weapons system?" He'd then once again asked the Lieutenant Commander softly as he continued to work through his duties and monitored the tactical readouts. "Not seeing any impact to the shields strength, modification to shield harmonics appears to be successfully dealing with the strain to the shields from the lightning." Vara'l reported then as he checked the readouts and had then directed the tactical console to flag debris on dangerous trajectories. "Reading significant aerial debris, varying sizes, larger chunks may be sufficient to cause shield damage." He'd then reported as he continued to work. "Also not seeing anything in tactical scans that'd indicate active power generation in the city, the city's power grid is likely down."

"We should get ready to head off, then, no? We have a lot to do and not much more time to get it done." Five indicated the storm. Talking about logistics was always good, but there were still. Y'know. People to save and all that.

The officer hopped up from where she was sat the instant Five said they ought to start going, "Loud and clear. Lead the way."

"Scans flagging lifesigns, significant numbers.." Vara'l reported then before he then, once the console had carried out his instructions regarding flagging dangerous debris and their directions of transit, routed that to the CONN. "Debris routes of transit routed to CONN, may help with manoeuvres."

Well... That didn't look good. The storm was not only huge, but it was powerful, too, which was a lethal combination. "Agreed. Begin evacuation efforts." Xaran instructed to those present, before tapping a button on the arm of their seat.

Up and out! He had indeed heard the commander loud and clear, so he was on the move!

"Some of this debris is of large enough size to be of concern, sir." The Romulan reported as he continued to monitor the shields. After reporting this, Vara'l checked the readouts once more and checked to see the debris tracks. "Manoeuvring can assist in dealing with some of that but, the debris is sufficient enough to be dangerous to any ground team once deployed."

She hummed as she stood like Kiadras and headed out to the hallway. “Good luck up here sirs.”

Idly having noted the fact his question had never been answered, Vara'l contended himself with checking up on things later. At that present time, he'd remained focused on the job at hand and continued his work. "Sir, a thought.. in theory we could pair the debris route trajectories with information regarding ground teams routes of transit, could give them additional information to aid them in evasion." The evacuation operation had been going smoothly, with all hands on deck saving anyone in peril. The comms Ensign flagged the attention of one of the many command staff on the bridge. "Sirs, the Thunderbird and Monarch have arrived, they're preparing to make planetfall soon - though because they're both larger ships it'll take them a while."

Oh thank heavens, backup. "Understood. Continue to relay all our information to them and begin coordinating efforts to best utilise their resources. I expect the Monarch and Thunderbird will want to take command of the situation considering that this sort of operation is their forte, so make sure they know we're at their disposal."

Vara'l looked to the commander. "Relaying scan and debris information to the Monarch and Thunderbird." The Romulan responded as he proceeded to do so, his own responsibilities discharged.
