Star Trek: Starbase 777 - etd-shuttlebay

It had been a hot second since Kiadras wore an EV suit, but she thought she looked pretty good in it. All things considered, at least. The Trill put her hair up in a tighter bun to safely hide it away within her helmet, looking over the shuttles available to her. Decisions decisions. Is it bad to say she was excited?

Kya hummed as she stepped in and grabbed an EV suit, putting it on with a breath, “I’ve not worn one of these in a long while. I forgot they were skin tight.” She said with a hum. “It’s a change from the normal uniform.”

Teno nodded at Lt. Cdr. Vrii and Lt. Cdr. Pok, beelining to the EV suits and pulling one on as quickly as possible. "Hello, Commanders." He smiled at Kya, who he had not seen except in passing since he'd joined the Starbase some months ago. "Okay, we can do this." He said, trying to psych himself up.

“Understatement,” The Trill said with a grin, holding his helmet under his arm, “I dunno, I think I look pretty good,” A grin, before turning to Teno, “Hello there, Lieutenant! First time out? You can stick with me if you’d like, heh.”

She laughed. “Oh yes, I’m sure I look good as well.” She turned to look at Teno. “Hello Lieutenant Zaru! How have you been since we last met?”

"No, not my first time on an away mission but... Well, it's nice to meet you, Commander, even in these circumstances." He tried to smile at Kiadras but it looked more like a grimace. Teno was very worried about the people stranded in the storm, more than himself really. "Hi Commander Pok! I've been pretty good. Just, getting used to the Starbase, working hard in the Environmental Ring. You know, plant stuff." He chuckled nervously and thrummed his fingers on his thigh. A nervous tic.

Allan walked in as Kiadras said that, nodding in his direction. "You do," he confirmed with a smile as he finished up putting on the EV suit as well. "Can't think of anyone who doesn't, to be honest." He smiled over at Teno and waved. "'Plant stuff', quite elaborate," he said with a chuckle. "Good stuff, though."

Allan gets a big, bright grin from the Trill. Oh good, people agree with her! She nodded toward Teno, “Hey, no better time to make friends than helping people out!”

She smiled at Allan. “Mhm, you are quite right!” She said with a laugh.* “Plant stuff could be well useful! I will be here to protect you as well as the civilians, myself.”

Jake would make his way to the shuttlebay the moment the crew was called to action. Donning on an EV suit himself, he left the helmet in one of the shuttles as he walked around the craft performing his pre-flight checks. Knowing the situation they would be flying into, he needed to be as well prepared as possible. Looking up briefly from his PADD, he could see gathering group of officers. "Hello officers," the man would say to them politely before returning to his duties. Once he was satisfied and completed his checklist, Jake entered the shuttle and sat in the pilot seat to begin startup and boarding procedures.

Teno laughed, a hint of sharp anxiety in the cackle but Allan appearing from the turbolift and ribbing him was actually quite amusing. And it brought his nerves down a little bit, which was nice too. He trusted Kya, having met her and had a great conversation with her before. And well, Teno knew Starfleet was full of confident and capable officers. And he was one of them. "Certainly, plant stuff. And friends. Yeah, both of those things are definitely good. Oh, hey, Lieutenant." Teno said, acknowledging Jake as he came in. "Yeah..." He trailed off, grabbing a scanner and whatever other materials he'd need to have with him once they reached the surface. "Just...trying to get ready. Which, I am now." He nodded and set his shoulders.

Five stepped down and took his place quietly, folding his hands in front of him. He'd never had to wear an EV suit before, at least in recent memory... Fun?

A loud buzzer echoed through the Eventide's shuttlebay, signalling that the doors were about to be opened to hazardous conditons.

She sighed as she tightened her EV suit and made sure everything was in place. “Once more onto the breach.”

The Trill put his helmet on with a grin as he entered one of the shuttles, ready to test out a few maneuvers from a lifetime or two ago, "Buckle up, it's gonna be a bumpy ride!" (edited)

Jake wrapped up his procedures and with the shuttle prepared for flight, he would give a small smile before steeling his expression. Standing up from his chair, he walked to the shuttle's door as he called out, "Okay, all aboard! Let's fly!" With his announcement done, he glanced over to his left and right at the other shuttles also preparing for flight as he mentally plotted his course.

She hummed as she moved to get on the shuttle, taking position at one of the side consoles that had the tactical systems. “Ah! Haven’t done anything with a shuttle since I outran Iaconians in one of them.”

Teno made sure his EV helmet was securely attached to his suit and clambored into a shuttle. He strapped himself in, got as comfortable as he could, and prepared himself for the descent to the city. "In the name of the prophets, may we all remain protected." He whispered quietly with his eyes closed.

Although Maya, as a mechanic, thought it would be a good idea to stay in the Eventide's Engine Room and help maintain her shields and deflector, at the same time, volunteering to tag along with the rest of the rescue personnel made just as much sense, especially in conditions like these where the shuttles are their only means of going anywhere. Not to mention that it was more exciting. Maya took in a deep breath as she donned her EV suit and hyped herself up before she boarded the shuttle with a bright grin on her face.

Even though One's puppeteer had been absent for most of the event on account of touching grass for the first time in his life, they did show up to the airlock, in their EV suit for the first time, the blue looking pretty decent on them. They hoped that their understanding of mob mentality and group behaviour would allow them to help coordinate, even if they weren't particularly in any strength class to lift people, nor in possession of enough emotional depth to empathise with most people. Still, they climbed into the shuttle, wanting to help.

With everyone in the shuttle and the bay evacuated of any non-departing officers, the bay doors almost jolted open with a well-timed crack of thunder and the shuttle's front window was pelted with rain and hail. The other shuttles in the bay began to take off, most likely to rescue civilians in other parts of the city.

The Trill stared out the window as the storm finally reached them. No more bay doors to keep everyone safe from the elements, just the shuttle and the suits. She took a breath in to center herself, “Here we go!” Let’s hit it!

Teno took a short moment to breathe deeply through his nose and then slowly out of his mouth. This was it! He looked out the window and braced himself for the turbulence of the storm lashing against the shuttle.

With the shuttlebay doors opening and the craft filled with anybody riding with him, it was time to go. "Hang on! This will get a little bumpy." With a few taps of the console, the shuttle was up and away. (edited)

The shuttle began to move out of the bay, leaving the natural break in the wind that the ship provided. As soon as it cleared the Eventide it was hit by intense turbulence, jolting the officers around in their seats. With some wrangling, the turbulence would be manageable and it would be possible to make a landing in the #city-centre.

Kya sighed as she sat there, looking out at the massive disaster. She had seen lives torn apart by Iaconians, and the aftermath of the Dominions work, but in some ways this was worse. This wasn’t evil, this was a cruel trick of the universe. “It looks like we can land over there!”

The Trill held tight to the straps of his safety harness, jostling around back and forth with every slight movement outside from the absolutely massive storm. He’d never seen anything like it, even throughout all his past hosts… “There, yeah!” Kiadras echoed, “Instant we hit the ground, we gotta get moving!”

Jake's shuttle landed in the shuttlebay and the doors opened, letting the civilians and Starfleet officers finally get to safety - aside from poor Joe, who was still unable to feel his legs, the nature of his injury meant it was probably safer to use the site-to-site transport to get to sickbay, rather than taking him through the corridors.

Despite the weather, Jake would expertly compensate and maneuver the shuttlecraft into the bay, picking out his parking spot and thus setting it down as quickly as possible. Shutting down the engines, the officer dropped the ramp as soon as he could. "Alright! That wasn't too bad...Let's go, everybody! Unbuckle your belts and disembark in an orderly fashion!"

While the other civilians were getting first-aid for their cuts and bruises, Joe got beamed away - along with the Science Ensign who dislocated her shoulder - to sickbay, for proper treatment.

Supervising the group of civilians as they left the shuttle, Jake let out a soft sigh of relief to know that they would be safe now. It was moments like this is why he chose to join Starfleet. However, the job was far from done. As soon as the last person exited the ship, the Lieutenant turned around to prepare for another trip back down to the surface. "Anybody jumping board, do so now! We're going back in just a few minutes!" As soon as anybody else who chose to enter did and any new equipment loaded aboard that was required, Jake would restart the engines and as soon as he was cleared, took off back into the storm.
