Terrasphere North / main-street

@Away Team Three beamed down here, in a shaded alley leading to the main street. The street looked run-down and dirty, an industrial smog seeming to haze the air over just slightly. Walking into the street of cracked concrete, to the far end on one side, an old factory was visible, seeming to loom over the entire street imposingly. Towards the other end, a clocktower showed an arbitrary time that didn't seem to match up to any known system of timekeeping. Near it, a wide building labelled "MUSEUM" took up much of the opposite end of the street. While there were people walking all over the place, some less convincingly humanoid than others, small groups entered the museum with some regularity, whereas they seemed to avoid the factory.

Vovvi raised her head, getting a glance around at her surroundings before straightening her posture with a sigh. Right, then. Party time. Though, a much quieter party, as she waited for the rest of the away team to steady themselves.

Upon beaming down Elwyn immediately began looking around the immediate area with her rifle lowered, making sure there was no one who had seen them beam down and thus did not pose an immediate threat. Watching the unknown people in the immediate vicinity go about their day, she couldn't help but tilt her head just slightly like a confused puppy as she saw some of them behaving a little strangely.

Vara'l, as the environment came into view and the transport completed, took a moment as he steadied himself. Once he'd done so he then looked around and allowed himself to take in the sights around him and how the unknown people moved and where they moved too or avoided. As he did that he also worked to identify how much cover they happened to presently have, if cover was needed. A tendency that had been drummed into him over the years he'd spent in different services.

T'she looked around rather quickly, trying in vain to kind of blend in with everyone else. They felt out of place, especially in a combat outfit, but they went with the rest of those in their away team, holding onto their medical bag like a life line.

The large man glanced around as the group beamed in, checking for threats as soon as they materialised. He relaxed slightly once he realised there was nothing to worry about in the immediate area other than what he soon realised to be a large number of holograms... Interspersed with actual life signs.

In fact, it seemed that while many holograms were mostly set dressing, walking up and down the street before turning at the end and walking back around the block, or disappearing into equally simulated building facades, the actual life signs all congregated near the end of the street, some disappearing into the museum every so often.

Seeing that there was no immediate threat, Elwyn slung her rifle to one side for easy access, keeping one hand firmly on the grip as her other moved to her belt to grab her tricorder. Activating it to begin scanning, the android rather cautiously moved towards the end of the alleyway, scanning the life signs that were present, all while trying to figure out where they were supposed to be going. "So we have to find the consoles. Where would Undine put consoles that control major systems?" She said quietly as she looked back at the main group.

"Curiouser and curiouser," Vovvi murmured to herself, raising an eyebrow as the scene registered. "My first impulse is the clocktower, or the factory. Most of the holograms are avoiding the factory, and the clocktower may be difficult to access," she offered, "though nowhere is directly out of the question. Is there any way we can track major energy signals?"

Ens. Elwyn Preston | SEC BOT 03-Feb-24 08:43 PM
"Let me see-" Elwyn quickly responded ahs she switched her tricorder over to begin scanning for larger energy signals instead of life signs, the holograms quite apparent based on both their behaviour and scans as she briefly poked her head out into the main street to take a quick look around.

Vara'l, a firm grip maintained on his rifle, also proceeded to pull out a tricorder. After he'd done that he snapped it open and also started to scan the environment for abnormal power signatures and lifesign readings.

The different holograms all gave off energy signatures, making any differences harder to parse out. Still, it seemed that the clocktower was fairly low-energy. The factory, on the other hand, seemed to generate a lot for the apparent lack of holograms near it. However, reading life signs from so far away was practically impossible; Elwyn wasn't able to tell if there are actual people near the factory or not. (edited)

“Okay so it’s quite hard to tell what’s what because of all the holograms, but it seems the factory is generating a large energy signature despite the lack of holograms near it. I can’t get a read on any life signs nearby so I think we’re too far away.” The android stated in a hushed tone.

Once Vara'l had finished his own scans, he glanced back to the Ensign and the others for a moment before he turned to look out again. After he'd turned to look out again Vara'l attempted to gain a better view of the factory from as close to where they'd beamed in as possible. He frowned ever so slightly as he did so and waited for the ensign to provide information on what they'd detected. It'd be at this point that a thought struck him and he attempted to take readings of the different sorts of holograms that passed by or otherwise happened to be around. He did this in what was in essence an attempt to see if there happened to be a uniformity to the holograms energy signatures. This was something that in essence pursued a..hunch. "..My tricorder readings concur." He commented softly then as he continued to split his attention between tricorder and attempt to get a better look at the factory.

"I suggest we head closer to the factory, then. See what we can pick up. Quietly, just in case." She tipped her head to the side just a little, glancing at the rest of the team for approval. "Though, it wouldn't hurt to get a look around everywhere else at least..." ...hmm.

"Personally I am just a touch interested in the museum, perhaps it can help us figure out more about this place..." They kept their voice down as they looked over to where the small groups of people were entering. "Though we most definitely should check out the factory."

Ens. Elwyn Preston | SEC BOT 03-Feb-24 09:14 PM
Elwyn nodded in agreement with what Vovvi said, putting her tricorder back on her belt knowing Vara’l now had his own out. Moving her rifle back around to the front of her body she grasped it once more with both hands, keeping it pointed t the ground. “Yeah, I’ve seen a few people come and go from the museum so it might be worth a look, but it’s also a higher risk of being spotted.”

"I agree that our priority is exploration of the abandoned factory first." The ACTO commented softly then as he looked out at the different things in view. "It would help to get a look at everything yes, but the larger power generation warrants investigation.." He mused then as he checked his tricorder for a moment. Vara'l allowed the tricorder to continue to scan as he waited to see what other people had to say about the matter.

Vovvi nodded, gesturing for the team to follow. "There will be time to explore after we find the consoles. To the factory, then, at least to get a proper scan on it." (edited)

Elwyn nodded in agreement with what both Vara’l and Vovvi said, thinking going to the factory first the best approach. Raising her rifle a little, the android glanced around the main street to see if the coast was clear of anyone who very clearly wasn’t a hologram, before following the Commander as the group headed towards the factory, hoping they wouldn’t get spotted by the Undine as they did.

Vara'l followed the other commander as he nodded slightly in agreement with what they'd said. As he continued off with the group, Vara'l continued his scans as he headed off with the rest of them to the factory. He continued to occasionally check his scanner as they moved.
