Tally had been trying to catch Yoro’clis off duty for days, and finally, they had. Ever since they’d been doing minor patching for the UT for Dominionese, Yoro’clis, as one of the few speakers on the station, piqued his interest. Not just for linguistic reasons, though that was one of them— The chief of security of this station, a Jem’Hadar transfer officer. One who was an Honored Elder, and by all accounts, the most strait-laced Founder-serving type. Why put him here? Tally had learned a whole lot about the Dominion in the academy, and they knew that Yoro’clis, of all Jem’Hadar, had to be feeling like a fish out of water. Hell, a fish in a different dimension. Tal couldn’t even imagine, and that was why the two had to talk.
Tally walked through the environmental ring’s corridor, well, as much as one can walk with wheels instead of legs. Tal was an odd looking android, with wiry metal parts and an ancient looking monitor for a head. As they caught up to Yoro’clis, they tried to hide their excitement “Hello Commander! I don’t believe we’ve met… Tally Romeros, Ensign. I’ve been working on a new UT patch for Dominionese, and, well…” Tally laughed. “I won’t say it’s strictly necessary, but I’ve been wanting to talk to you. My knowledge of your language is purely through formal study, after all. You’d be amazed at what casual conversation can do to expand one’s understanding of a language.” Tal, a bit sheepish, smiled. “Would you like to join me in the botanical gardens?”
Tal had read his file, he knew Yoro’clis was not in the habit of spending his off duty hours actually off duty, and that just wouldn’t do. Sure, he might say no, but Tal had to at least try. Besides, he did genuinely want to talk to him in Dominionese. What was the harm of getting to look at pretty flowers at the same time?
