As Georgia walked in, she put her bag down around the corner of the door and looked around the place. She knew she had the quarters to herself at the moment, but she wanted to see what it had to offer. A couch, shelfs, chairs, a table. More than enough space to lighten the place up even. She smiled a bit and picked up her bag, putting it on the table and opening it. She pulled out a few items: a picture of her and her family in front of their farm back in London. A picture of her and Micheal in arctic clothes, standing in the cold of Andoria during their honeymoon. And then a small map with all kinds of drawings, items and tokens inside. Things her kids gave to her when they visited, things of high emotional value. She sat them down on a shelf and flopped down on the couch. The rest of her items would arrive later. For now she closed her eyes and drifted away, falling asleep. The emotions of the crew sure had an exhausting effect on her.

[D] Georgia came back to her quarters and sat down with a sigh. She still had to call her family to plan a visit. That could be done later today however, for now she had to cook dinner and such. So she got back up and started gathering some ingredients.

[D] Ava had been looking forward to visiting Georgia after the spontaneous invitation via the chat. She knocked on the door. “Hello? It’s Ava,” she sounded cheery and waited for a reply. She didn’t want to just walk in.

She looked up from her cabinet and smiled brightly, this was going to be quite fun. "Oh! Do come in, dear!" She said as she walked towards the door. She wasn't completely finished with finding the right ingredients yet, but that could wait. She had a guest after all.

’Dear’? Welp, she wasn’t one to complain about nicknames. She stepped in and cast a look around, talking in the interior design, while she greeted Georgia. “Hey, thank you for the spontaneous invitation, it’s really kind of you!” She smiled warmly, her Bajoran earring glittering in the artificial light. She was dressed in robes of black and dark purple that looked a bit like a human sari and suited her well. It brought out the brightness of her dyed hair and the darkness of her eyes.

"Oh, please don't mention it." She chuckled a little and waved it away before gesturing to the sofa. "Please, sit down, make yourself comfortable! Anything I can offer you?" She grinned at her as she walked over to a nearby replicator. The room was filled with plants, pictures of her family, a few ornaments and a hairpin, carefully tucked away in a glass box.

Ava followed the invitation and sat down, made herself comfortable, crossing her legs. “Um, well, if you’re cooking, maybe just something to drink?” She smiled. “I’ll have whatever you’re having.” She felt herself relax into the sofa. She’d had a long day and was happy to be here, finally catching a break. She didn’t really know Georgia very closely, so being here felt almost a little awkward, but then again, what a lovely way to get to know a person! “Can I help you with the cooking? Or anything else?” She hated feeling useless. And she was curious as to what they would be having.

"Two Betazoid spice teas it is!" She grinned and got them a few cups, heating up some water and getting a few teabags. She purely went to the replicator in case she wanted something that Georgia didn't have in her quarters. As the water was cooking she looked at Ava and smiled. "You're free to help me! I was planning on making some hasparat, something I think you'll enjoy." She grinned at her. "Also gives us a nice opportunity to chat." She was quite glad that she got visitors. She wanted to get to know more of the crew, and this was the perfect opportunity!

”Tea sounds great!” Ava got up, glad to be able to do something. “Hasparat, I’ve never made nor had that,” she commented as she entered the kitchen with Georgia. “You’ll have to tell me what to do, I’m afraid.” She smiled as she familiarized herself with the small kitchen. Georgia’s quarters were really nice, she liked it. “Do you have a roommate?”

"You're going to love it, I promise you." She chuckled a little. "It's a traditional Bajoran meal, quite filling for its small size, full of flavour too." She smiled warmly at Ava, quite happy she's going to be able to surprise someone with this recipe. "Well, as far as I'm aware, I do have one, yes. Never met them however. One Lieutenant Naan, you know them?" She gestured to a few vegetables. "Would you mind cutting those up for me in the meantime? In simple small chunks. I'll go get us our tea whilst you're at it!" She smiled and went over to the water she just cooked, grabbing two glasses.

Ava started cutting. “A Bajoran meal? It is unusual that I don’t know it, I grew up with a Bajoran in the family.” She chopped carefully, as she wasn’t that good at it. She wasn’t bad at it either, but because she didn’t often have time to cook, she lacked the practice. Still, she enjoyed being able to help. “I don’t know Lieutenant Naan, no. At least not as far as I’m concerned — In the past few days, so much has been going on, I keep forgetting things. Anyways, I’m sure you’ll meet them soon enough, if they’re your roommate and all.” She tucked a strand of loose hair back into her bun to prevent it from falling into her vision.

She nodded as Ava spoke, pouring some water into the glasses followed by the teabags. She grabbed the glasses and brought them over to the kitchen counter, setting one down for Ava. "There you go." She smiled warmly and took a quick sip from her tea. "A Bajoran in the family? How did that came to be?" She raised her eyebrow slightly with a smile on her face, a curious look to be sure. She sat her glass down and started to work on some of the filling for the hasparat. "I sure hope so. The earlier we can make some house rules, the better. I can get quite annoyed if I get back home and get greeted by a mess. My husband found that out the hard way." She laughed a little.

Ava smiled and took the tea with a grateful nod. She chuckled a little at the comment about Georgia’s husband. Then, she said, “Well, I was raised by my mother, on earth. Her best friend happened to be a Bajoran, Ayala Roe. She spent so much time with us, she’s basically like another mother to me.” At the memory, a dreamy look come to her eyes. “I’m glad I have her. Without Roe, I would never have learnt how to deal with my Vulcan emotionality. But please, tell me about your family! What’s your husbands name? You wrote that you have kids?”

She chuckled a little seeing Ava light up as she spoke of this person. At the mention of her own family she smiled and nodded. "One sec!" She walked off and towards the shelf with some pictures on it before grabbing one and walking back. "Here you go." On the picture were Georgia and her husband in the middle, a boy on the left and a girl on the right. And it seemed they were standing in front of some sort of barn in the middle of a countryside. "Left to right we have Jordan, my 10 year old son, Micheal, my lovely human husband, and Jasmine, my 14 year old daughter." She chuckled a little. "Jordan is all sweet and flowers at the moment, but Jasmine is starting to get in that rebellious phase. That and she's showing her first signs of telepathy, which is going to be quite a challenge to help her with."

”Oh wow,” muttered Ava as she marveled at the picture. “You have a beautiful family, Georgia.” She smiled genuinely. “Your kids sound very fun, I’d love to meet them all sometime. You’re Betazoid, aren’t you? I can imagine those telepathic abilities can be a challenge from time to time.” She gave the picture back and sipped her tea before going back to chopping vegetables. “I myself struggled a lot with telepathy. I still do,” she admitted, trying to laughter it off. But she was curious to know: “How do you deal with it?”

"Why thank you!" She grinned and picked up the picture, putting it back on the shelf before walking back to the kitchen, taking a sip of tea and working on the filling. "I am a Betazoid, yes. And telepathy is quite challenging sometimes. The biggest challenge is empathy, I can't exactly turn that off." She chuckled a little before nodding, getting a little more serious. "In all honesty, I had a great struggle with it when I was younger. I didn't know how to cope with all the voices, all the emotions thrown towards me. But over the years you learn to filter. I can now focus on a certain emotion and only pay attention to that, or I focus on a certain person. Like now, for instance. Right now I'm focusing on your emotions to filter out the rest." She smiled a little at Ava. "But you're quite lucky seeing your Vulcan heritage. You're a touch telepath. As long as you don't touch someone, you shouldn't have any issues with it." She stopped mixing and looked properly at Ava. "If you do end up having problems or issues, don't be afraid to call me or some other telepath. I'm certain we'd be willing to help. I know I would be."

Ava pulled a face for a second. “I wouldn’t call it lucky, but you’re right, at least I don’t get every person’s emotion all the time.” She laughed. “Thank God! My own are already intense enough. I don’t know how you cope! Then again, it’s different for a half-Vulcan like me, because everything is already so intense, every emotion is so strong… You see, the whole touch telepathy thing isn’t usually a problem, unless someone wants to shake hands or hug. And I love hugs! But they overwhelm me completely sometimes.” She shook her head. “Ah, but let’s not talk about my little problems right now. Thank you for offering your help. I might come back to it someday if I ever feel the need.” A smile slipped onto her face as she said that. Then, she wad done with the vegetables, they were all cut in little cubes. She looked down and gestured at it. “What’s the next step, Chef?”

She smiled and gave a nod. She was glad she could help Ava. She may not be someone she knew all that well, but she couldn't leave someone who had issues with something without offering help. It went against everything she stood for as both a mother and as a caring soul. She knew the troubles with telepathy all too well, and she didn't want to see anyone else have that much trouble with it. It would do more harm than good. "Right! So, there are some wraps in the cabinet to your right. Grab about 4-- 6 of you're hungry, and just put a handful of vegetables on them, then top it with some filling and fold it up! Then we'll warm them up and we should be ready for dinner!" She smiled brightly for a moment before sipping some tea.

Ava nodded at the instructions and followed them. She took five wraps and filled them carefully. Then, she wrapped them all up nicely. At that, she was very skilled and practiced. “So, basically, these are Bajoran tortilla wraps,” she commented, “That’s great, because I love wraps! And I now know why Roe never made these. She doesn’t like wraps!” She laughed and folded up the last one.

"That's... Funnier than it should be." She laughed softly as she spoke, shaking her head lightly and taking another sip of her tea. "But yes, they really are just Bajoran tortillas." She chuckled a bit and helped her with folding the wraps for a moment before grabbing a oven dish and carefully placing them in it. "You know Ava, I'm curious. Why do you think I cook?" She raised her eyebrow slightly, looking at Ava with a smile.

Ava glanced at Georgia from the side. “Hm,” she hummed with a smile, “Could be many reasons. You probably like doing it. Maybe you don’t like replicator food.” She shrugged. “Maybe the activity has sentimental value for you, because you connect it with a certain feeling, or it helps you release stress.” There were many possible reasons. Ava looked at Georgia. “And? Did I get it right?”

"You did, actually! I just absolutely hate replicated food. It misses that made-at-home taste, if you get what I mean." She chuckled softly. "And it's more fun this way." She grinned at Ava and grabbed the oven dish, putting it in an oven and putting it on 20 minutes before starting it. "Micheal however didn't like that, he's quite impatient when it comes to food. So you can imagine the first time he came for dinner and needed to wait a good hour!" She laughed and gestured to the sitting corner, picking up her cup of tea. Why not chat whilst they waited?

Ava picked up her cup as well and chuckled. “And yet, he married you. Must be head over heels in love.” She smelled the tea, pleased with the warmth of it, and then took a sip. “The tea is excellent by the way! I totally get what you mean by that made-at-home taste. It’s just different.” She chuckled to herself. Styre would probably laugh at how illogical that all was. Her thoughts drifted off for a moment.

She nodded and sipped some of her tea. "He really is, yeah. Though I can say with confidence I feel the same about him." She grinned brightly, a very, very faint blush on her face as she spoke. "Well, I'm glad you like it! And if you didn't I would've just offered you something else." She shrugged a bit and smiled. "But what about you? Do you have a partner? Or are you still living the single life?"

Ava smiled as she saw Georgia blush. She really seemed very in love. It was lovely to see that after so many years with the same person, she still seemed to feel the same way about him. Ava caught herself thinking that one day, she’d like to have something like that. At the question, she shook her head. “I’m still going strong on my own. I find friends everywhere, but a romantic relationship just hasn’t occurred. There was this Andorian girl once, a long while back…” She waved it off. “It was nothing serious and wouldn’t have lasted even if we’d tried. I’m not exactly looking for something, though I’m not opposed to the idea either. Roe always said such things should just be left to develop themselves. If you give it freedom, love will come to you, she used to say.” She smiled slightly and sipped her tea.

"I think Roe and I would've gotten along quite well hearing who she was." She smiled softly and sipped some more of her tea, thinking. Thinking about how she actually met Micheal on that ship they both served on. What fun that was. She snapped out of it however and looked back at Ava. "I remember this boy a long time ago, academy days. A Bajoran/Betazoid if I recall correctly. He was... Quite interested in me, though I wasn't interested in him. Back in those days I was way too focussed on my studies to even pay attention to him. God, I was an awful person back then." She laughed a little and shook her head.

And at that moment the doorbell chimed.

She looked towards the door and smiled softly. "Come in!"

Ava turned her head. She’d just been meaning to reply to Georgia’s answer. “Oh, that must be Streelan.” She smiled and called, “We’re here in the kitchen!”

His nose led him to the kitchen (by coincidence, really, he just had a good nose for food) and he stuck his head through the door very shortly after. At this time company was most welcome. "Room for another?" He askef with a light smile.

"Absolutely! Come join us! Dinner should be done in about 10 minutes." She smiled warmly at Streelan. "Want some tea whilst you wait?" She put her cup down and gestured to a chair at the table for him to sit down at.

Ava smiled at the newcomer. In the past days, he’d become a good friend to her. “We were just talking about relationships and the academy time.” She looked at Georgia and said, “To reply to your comment, I believe we all were very different people back in the academy as opposed to now. It’s nothing unusual.” She cringed a little herself as she thought about that time. She’d changed a lot since then.

"That's for sure. I don't believe I've ever slapped someone again after the academy days." She chuckled. "For context, the man was quite rude and arrogant towards me." She shrugged and sipped some more of her tea. "But hey, first posting came around and voilà, here I am!... After I don't know how many years."

”And we’re all the more glad you’re here.” Ava chuckled surprisedly at that comment about slapping someone. “You’re lucky you haven’t had to slap anyone else. There’s usually always someone behaving rudely at every posting, and sometimes people have to be put in their place.” She sipped her tea. “I hate conflict, but you can’t always avoid it. Best is of course when a verbal reaction can stop the rudeness.” She was interested and asked, “By the way, where were you posted before you came to this station? I know Stree here was on the Hades.” She nodded at her friend, engaging him in the conversation.

"I was, yes!" Streelan had seated himself at the table with them, thus far remaining silent as the two women spoke to each other.

"I was on a different station near the Romulan border, so I'm quite used to living on a station. I had the same function there as I have here; tactical advisor and strategist." She grinned a bit. "Most exciting thing that happened there was an escort I had to plan. Other than that, not a lot happened." She shrugged and drank some more of her tea with a smile.

”Well, this job here seems to be quite the opposite of that so far.” She exchanged meaningful looks with both of them and drank her tea.

"Yeah... That I noticed when I arrived..." She stayed quiet for a minute, looking at her cup of tea for a while. "It, uhm, made me question if I should invite the kids over or not. I don't want them put in any danger, you know?"

"I'm sure your children would be happy here, ma'am, all things considered." He added. "Surely the days ahead can't be all bad, can they?"

Ava nodded. “I agree with Streelan. We’ve got to stay optimistic and it’s unlikely such a thing will happen twice within short time. It’s an exception. Usually, starbases are very safe.” She gave a reassuring smile. “Don’t let fear be a reason not to see your family. I’d find it a lovely idea to invite them. I’d love to meet them all!”

Then, Ava added softly, “It makes sense for you to be cautious and it shows how much you care. But I really don’t think it would be a problem to invite them now. Things are going uphill.” She hoped so at least. She had to hope!

She nodded and stayed silent for a moment, thinking. "I'll discuss it with Michael, see what he thinks. But you're right, I shouldn't not see them because I'm afraid." She smiled softly at the two. "When they arrive here, I'll make sure you two get to meet them. That's a promise." She grinned a little, sipping some more of her tea.

"Well, I do like children! They have such amusing energy, I do think." Streelan gave a light laugh and sipped from his drink in silence. "I'm willing to babysit them on occasion if you'd like."

Ava raised her eyebrows. “Somebody’s eager! I didn’t know you liked kids so much, Stree.”

"Well, Jordan may enjoy spending some time with new people. Jasmine I don't know. She's more... Turned to herself since the incident. She may has to get used to the whole idea."

"Adaptation comes with time, that I know. Perhaps she may benefit from being introduced to starbase life more often." He remarked.

"That's what I said! But no, Jasmine didn't want to go outside last time. She insisted that when she would step outside the doors of our quarters, "she'd be bullied back inside," which Michael and I both found ridiculous."

”Maybe if she comes to stay over, we can prove her wrong,” said Ava with a smile, “I’m usually good with teens, as I myself was quite the rebel back in the day. I would really like to meet her.”

"You're free to try, at least. I'd enjoy it if she spent some more time outside of her normal group of people." She smiled happily at Ava, glad she offered it.

"We shall take good care of her, Ava and I! I promise!" Streelan smiled eagerly. "If and when she comes to stay of course!"

Ava nodded in agreement with Streelan and then looked over at the oven. It was starting to smell really amazing in the room. Generally, the atmosphere was very pleasant, found Ava. “Food should be ready in a bit, no?”

"Yeah, any minute now." She grinned and leaned back in her chair a bit. "Tell you what, I'll ask Micheal tonight if he'd like to drop by and bring the kids along with him sometime this week. They'd probably stay for about 3, maybe 4 weeks before heading back again. Should give you plenty of time to get acquainted, no?"

”That sounds amazing! I look forward to it.” She smiled with excitement and honesty. “May I ask what your husband does for a living, by the way?”

"Local police force, he's a detective at the moment." She smiled brightly, sipping some more of her tea. "He was originally working within the tactical department, but dropped out to be around the kids more."

Ava raised her eyebrows. “Wow, a detective, that sounds intriguing! How lovely of him to be so devoted to his family and change his career.” She happily sipper her tea. “That’s the kind of people you want around you.”

"He's amazing. Sometimes I think that he's better than I deserved." She chuckled softly. "Then again, he says the same about me, so y'know." She shrugged and got up when the oven went off, grabbing some oven gloves and getting the dish out of the oven before placing it on the table. "I'd say we did a pretty good job, Ava. I'm certain you'll make a great cook one day." She gave a quick wink and smiled.

Streelan smiled and let them talk for the time being. This felt nice. Almost like a family - well, maybe in a way it was a little family. A place where people took care of each other. Ahh. He looked away briefly blinking a tear from his eye.

Ava smiled at Georgia. “Haha, thank you. I still need practice, but…” That’s when she noticed Streelan’s expression. Wait, was that a tear? “Hey, Stree, are you okay?” Her expression and tone turned worried at once.

"Hm? Oh! Uh-" Streelan feigned ignorance for a moment. Ugh, he hated getting emotional in front of his crewmates. "I'm alright. Thank you-"

Ava frowned. He didn’t look all that ‘alright’ to her. “Are you sure?”

"Yes. Yes. I've merely not seen my parents or family in some time." By sometime he meant 'for the past few years and will not ever till day my soul leaves this universe' - but they didn't need to know that. Yet.

She got back with some plates and distributed them among the people present. When she saw Streelan upset she sat down and looked at Ava for a moment before looking back at Streelan. "Streelan, dear, by all means, but you don't look fine."

"No, really, I've simply not seen my parents in some time and I miss them dearly," He replied quickly.

"Well, I hope you get in touch with them one day. Being separated from your parents can be... Hard. Really hard." She said softly as she layed a hand on his arm with a reassuring smile. She wanted him to be ok, to feel safe.

Ava nodded, agreeing with Georgia. “Isn’t there any way for you to contact them?” She just wanted to help. She knew herself how important it was to keep in touch with family; she called Roe and her mother all the time! “I’m sure they’d like to hear from you as well.” She smiled, trying to be helpful and reassuring. Not every parent was overly interested in their child, that much she knew from experience, however most parents wanted to know what their kid was up to and were caring at heart, even if they couldn’t always show it.

Streelan sighed hard at that; oh, if only it were so easy as that. "I'm afraid that isn't possible." He said quietly. He could feel a little bit of wetness behind his eyes again, argh. "Because my parents were taken from me when I was fifteen.'

"Oh goodness, Streelan." She got up and gave him a gentle hug. Her motherly instincts just sprung into action without pardon. This was awful, here she thought she'd be able to have a nice dinner with some friends.

“Oh, Stree…” Ava was shocked, though she’d almost expected something like that. “I’m so sorry.” She simply couldn’t not hug him! Yes, hugs often overwhelmed her, but in this case a hug was just necessary. She leaned over to put an arm around Streelan. Now he was hugged from both sides. “It’s alright, you can cry if you want to.” Ava had a sad, but reassuring smile on her lips as she said this and rubbed his shoulder. She knew that a good cry could help her at times and maybe it would do the same for him.

Being sandwiched between both women made him a little bit uncomfortable in fact - but he really did appreciate it, deep inside, the poor twig. He was left to blink tears from his eyes and hang his head a little. "I'm sorry for ruining this dinner." He murmured.

"Ruining it? Streelan, don't be silly. You didn't ruin anything." She said softly as she squeezed him a little. This wasn't how she imagined this dinner going, but she didn't mind. This happened sometimes, it was only natural. "How about you grab some food? Maybe it'll cheer you up a bit, hm?" She said as she let go, but kept a hand on his shoulder. She could sense his uncomfortability, so she let him go for now.

Ava moved away a little bit as well, but still kept a hand on his forearm. She smiled reassuringly. “You’re not ruining anything. You should feel free to talk about these things, it’s good. And I’m sure Georgia here doesn’t mind either.”

"I don't, no. Really, Streelan, it's nothing to worry about." She grinned a little at him and sat back down. This wasn't all that bad, in all honesty. She would have the same reaction as Streelan if she had to talk about her parents - if they were dead, that is.

Well, he did want food. And food always made him feel better. Which was good. That made him perk up a little bit and smile. "What is there to eat?" He asked through a quick sniffle.

”Bajoran tortillas,” said Ava with a smile, hoping to take his mind off things. Good food always cheered her up so maybe it’d be the same with him. “They should be ready any second now.” She looked at Georgia who would surely know how long the wraps still took in the oven.

"They already are, dear." She chuckled as she nodded towards the oven dish on the table. "So, who's hungry?" She grinned at the two.

"Starving." Streelan grinned now. "I adore Bajoran tortillas."

Ava chuckled. She was happy to see Stree was looking better now. She gave his arm a little squeeze before finally taking away her hand and turning his attention to the food. “Let’s dig in, then!”

She chuckled a little and gave both of them a piece of hasperat before picking up one for herself and putting it down on her plate. "Bon appetit!" She grinned and took a bite from her food.

"Born... appetite?" He'd never heard the expression before, at least not properly. He wasn't too focused on that, though; he dug in eagerly with a muffled hum of pleasure.

Ava laughed at Streelan’s comment. “It’s French. It basically means enjoy your food.” She grinned as she started eating as well.

"It's used quite a lot on earth, more than you'd realize." She laughed a little. "I remember when I first said it back on earth with my parents. I think I was 9, maybe 10 at the time. My mom immediately said: "Gerana! What in the deity's names did you just say?!"" She said it in a strict and worn-out voice, laughing afterwards.

Ava frowned with a smile. “Gerana?”, she repeated in a questioning tone.

"Gerana?" He looked up after swallowing a chunk of hasperat.

"Right, you two don't know!" She put some hair behind her ear. "Yeah, my birthname is Gerana Jolke, though I changed it to Georgia Hill after my wedding. I found it more... Fitting. And it calmed down Micheal's parents - who were slightly xenophobic."

Ava pulled a face. “Oh, that’s… unfortunate. But as long as you’re happy with Georgia Hill, it’s fine.” She ate and wondered whether she’d do such a thing in order to get along with the parents of a hypothetical partner she didn’t have…

"Trust me, it doesn't bother me at all. My parents still call me Gerana, my husband calls me Georgia. I don't care." She shrugged and took another bite. "And truth be told, I changed my name mainly because I thought it would be more fitting seeing I was going to live in earth for the rest of my life anyways. Micheal's parents were a nice bonus."

Streelan made a face and shook his head. "So long as you are happy with your name! That is what is most important isn't it?"

Ava tilted her head and swallowed a bite of food. “You thought you were going to live on earth for the rest of your life, but now you’re here, in space. How did that happen? The food is amazing by the way!”

"My home is still on earth, dear. So technically I still live there. I'm just stationed here for the time being." She grinned at her. "And thanks! I do try."

"You must teach me. My mother left me some of her recipes in a journal in her last testament," He said. "I unfortunately am not a very good cook."

”Ah, yeah, well, you’re right,” said Ava with a nod to Georgia. To Streelan she replied, “We could cook together from time to time, I’m sure it would be fun! We don’t have to occupy Georgia’s kitchen every time, my quarters have got a tiny kitchen as well.”

"Oh! I've got something to add to that. How about we switch kitchens every so often? We'll do this more often - or I hope we will - and next time we'll hang around Ava's place, next time at Streelan's and then back to me. Would be fun, no?" She grinned brightly at them.

"Yes." A tiny smile blossomed over his features and he glanced between both women. "Yes, it would. I look forward to it."

Ava nodded enthusiastically. “Yeah! We’ll make it a habit. And Georgia, your family can come and cook as well. Or… at least eat.” She laughed.

She laughed and shook her head. "Cook. Micheal's a way better cook than I am, though I'm improving somewhat." She chuckled a little and took another bite from her hasparat. "I'm glad you two accept the offer though! It means a lot to me."

"Oh, it's our pleasure. I'd love to learn and become better at cooking, especially from others better than I," He quipped.

Ava pointed a thumb at Streelan while she chew and swallowed. Then, she said, “I can only agree with that! Hmm, and I could never say no to good food and good company.” She smiled. It was the kind of warm smile that left a glitter in her eyes. She felt happy and warm around her heart. “Here, with you guys, the starbase is actually starting to feel like home.” It was true and that despite of all the things that had happened. She was glad she slowly found her place and her preferred crowd here. It was good to be amongst friends.

"Well, feel free to drop by more often! My doors always open of you two - or anyone for that matter." She grinned happily, delighted to spend some time with friends. She chuckled a little at Ava's comment. "It does, yeah! Though I could use some more plants, make it more homely."

"Because home is where the heart is. Which is where family is." He added, looping an arm around each woman's shoulders at the same time, thank god for long arms that stretch over half your body length.

Ava laughed in surprise as she was pulled into the half-hug. “That’s right, Stree! You’re much more poetic than I thought you’d be.” She chuckled.

She chuckled and smiled. "I couldn't agree more, Streelan." She grinned brightly at him, laying a hand on his.

Ava felt really happy. She had good food and good friends, what more could one want? She was also very glad that Stree seemed to be fully cheered up now. For someone who’d lost their parents to talk like this about family was really heartwarming to see. She gave his arm an affectionate squeeze. “I’m glad I met you, Stree. And not just because you kind of saved my life when we’d just met!” She grinned honestly and looked at Georgia. “And I’m happy you invited me, Georgia, and that even though we didn’t know each other, because getting to know you is a definite win!” Ava wasn’t one to hold back compliments ever. She didn’t see the point in that. She was just overwhelmed by the need to tell them how happy she was and so, she followed her gut feeling.

She smiled happily and squeezed her hand gently before smiling at them both. "And I'm absolutely delighted that I sent out that invite for dinner. I never thought I'd have this amazing company." She chuckled a little.

Ava grinned. “Well, now that we’ve all been happy and sappy, let’s get back to these amazing tortillas!” She licked her lips and returned her attention to the plate, taking a big bite, so that her mouth was stuffed.

Streelan smiled and blinked a tear from his eye - a happy tear. Indeed this starbase had begun to feel more like home in spite of all that'd happened to them and he was determined to keep it that way. "I am pleased to have met you both, too." He said.

She laughed as she saw Ava stuff herself full, shaking her head a little. "Careful! You're going to get hiccups!" She chuckled a little and cut off a small part of her hasparat and took a bite.

Ava shook her head and gave thumps up to express that she was totally fine even though her mouth was so full she couldn’t speak.

On the other hand Streelan had promptly gone back to eating and currently had his mouth full of hasperat. Never mind that it was burning his throat real bad, it was delicious and that was all that mattered.

Ava finished her food. She stopped stuffing it down and started enjoying it with some decency. All the while, she conversed with Stree and Georgia, laughing and chatting. It felt quite similar to the meals she had with her mother and Ayala when she was home on earth for shore leave. Yes, she was really starting to settle in on this starbase, she was sure now. She felt like she belonged and that was a wonderful feeling. She hoped that the other two felt the same; judging by their happy faces, they had a similar feeling at least. Time passed quickly and when all the plates were empty, Ava felt full. Maybe she’d eaten a little too much. She sighed happily. “Ah, thanks for this. I really enjoyed this time with you. However,” she made an apologetic face, “I should be going. There’s some work I still need to finish and I wanted to meditate before going to bed early.”

She smiled and got up, patting down her uniform for a moment before speaking. "Well, Ava. It was great having you. I hope we get to speak again soon." She walked up to her and opened her arms for a hug, only if she wanted to however. She did say she had some trouble seeing touch telepathy and everything.

Ava only hesitated the break of a second, before going in for a hug. She didn’t mind the slight feeling of overwhelm. It was worth it. “I’ll be sure to bother you again very soon.” When she pulled away from the hug, she grinned at her.

"So will I." He added quickly. "I love spending time with you." He smiled and felt his cheeks warm seeing them hug like mother and daughter. He missed that feeling.

"Please do! I'd love to chat again soon!" She grinned brightly at her before turning to Streelan. "Same goes for you."

Ava hugged Streelan goodbye as well. As long as she didn’t put her flat hands against his back, it wasn’t too overwhelming. It was quite nice. And that, even though her face was at the height of his chest. She chuckled as she pulled away. “Stree, you giant! I’ll see you around.” She also waved at Georgia. “Thanks again for the invitation. The next time, we can meet up in my quarters.”

Blushing a light shade of pink Streelan smiled, loosely wrapped his arms round her and said to both women, "I would love to chat again sometime myself. Preferrably over a hearty meal." Yes, even scrawny Streelan had an appetite and a huge one to match his height at that. Which was likely ironic. Still though the feeling of dining round a table with people he cared about, that little safe bubble of warmth and fellowship and love with good food to accompany it was in his opinion one of the best feelings one could have.

"That's a deal, Ava! I'll see you then." She grinned brightly and gave her a wave of goodbye before turning to Streelan and giving him a wave as well. "See you around, Streelan. Keep in touch."

Ava left with a last wave and a warm smile.

Keep in touch. Now that sounded nice, he thought to himself. Somehow it felt painful to let these two go, even if it was only temporary. "I shall. Often. If I bother either of you with my constant chatter please tell me so." Smiling the Kelpien trotted out of her quarters in much better spirits and let the doors hiss shut behind him.

Jihlala appeared in her room, intent to hunker down and relax after a long shift. It'd been a good one, all things considered, no one had died and all the reports had been done before she'd left, but even so, the long shifts still took a toll on her neck and back. God she'd do anything for a soak right about now, but as a simple lieutenant, she was a long way off from having her own quarters, much less her own bath. Kicking her boots off at the door, she undid the bun she wore her long red hair in and limply flopped on the common room couch, sprawling out with not a care in the world as she hiked one leg up onto the back pillows and the other lounging on the armrest.

A few moments later however, Georgia walked in. She was holding Jasmine by her hand as she walked in but let go when they finally all entered. When she noticed Jihlala flopped down on the couch however, she couldn't help but feel a little guilty for disturbing the resting Orion. "And welcome to my room, dearies, hope you enjoy your stay!"

Jordan gave a good look around before jumping down from his father's shoulders and looking at the Orion lady with a curious look before pointing at her and turning to Georgia. "Who's the green lady?"

Jasmine on the other hand quietly went to a nearby seat and sat down, hiding her cybernetic arm. She didn't want to be laughed at.

Micheal walked in and put an arm around Georgia, looking at her and giving a soft kiss on her temple. "It's lovely, dear." He said softly before turning to look at Jihlala and Jordan, curious how this'll play out.

It'd genuinely felt so lovely to lay back and kick her feet up, a sigh escaping her lips as she snuggled deeper into the fabric of the couch, lolling her head to one side. Yes, this was exactly what she'd needed, she thought softly to herself, the sinking feeling of utter relief beginning to make her feel drowsy. However, no sooner did she close her eyes and begin to nod off did voices startle her back awake, sending her flying into an upright seated position- fearing the worst. Though at the little boys' question and the recognition of her roommate did she settle a bit, giving a wave and a quick smile. "Morning! Well, evening. Lemme uh, lemme get out ya'lls way! I didn't know we were havin' company over, Georgia.. I'd have tidied a bit." She chuckled, standing up off the couch and stepping out and away from the living space.

"Oh no, Jihlala, it's fine, dear." She'd chuckle a little and shake her head, smiling softly at her. "This is just my family, they're going to visit for a while. I'm not gonna send you away because my kids and husband happened to walk in with me." She gestured to the couch. "Please, join us. It would give us all an opportunity to get to know one another better, wouldn't you say?"

"I mean, yeah. It's not like we don't mind or anything. More souls more joy and all that." He said with a nonchalant wave of his hand, grinning a little.

Jordan had already made his way over to a nearby chair and sat down in it, sitting it quite an odd position; legs over the armrest, arms over the backrest and his head just hanging there. Quite odd indeed.

JN: Honest to god, she didn't even know that Georgia was married..or had kids. She'd only met the other woman in passing before, usually coming on or off a shift. "If you're sure- don't wanna muck up the family hour. But good to meet you all, I'm Lieutenant Jihlala Naan, you can just call me Jihlala though." She offered out a hand to Michael for a handshake, though she gave both kids a quick wave before doing so. (edited)

"Goodness no, you won't muck up anything. They're here for a few weeks. We'll have plenty of time to get in some family hours." She smiled brightly before walking to the kitchen to make herself and the rest some tea. "Want some tea, Jihlala? I can get you something else if not."

He shook her head in quite a firm handshake. "Well, if we're using rank- Detective Micheal Hill, London police. Glad to meet you." He said with a soft smile before letting go of her hand and gesturing to both kids. "And there we have Jasmine and Jordan."

Jasmine gave a slight wave, looming away. She didn't know what to think, really. She was glad that Jihlala was so friendly, but she didn't know how emotional she was, or how critical. So, for now, she'd hide her cybernetic arm a little. She didn't like people seeing it.

He gave a small fake salute and grinned. "Wassup?" Before sitting down properly.

JN: "Nice to meet you all proper." She replied back, pulling away from Michael gently before greeting the children as well. "This is such a shame, I got a kid you guys' age, the one year he doesn't wanna come along with me is the year there's kids here!" She cried in mock whining, shaking her head as she spoke. (edited)

"Oh! What are they like?! Do they have black eyes like I do? Green skin like you?!" He was quite excited hearing what Jihlala said.

"Fun-" She said quietly from her seat.

Georgia looked at Jasmine for a moment before sighing a little as she made the tea, as she did she made a telepathic connection with Jasmine. "What's wrong, girl?"

"I just... I don't want her to see my arm. She'll make fun of me." She said back through the bond, looking away a little.

"And how do you know that? She's quite polite, isn't she? Besides, she's also a mother. I don't think she'll make fun of you. Nothing to be afraid of." She thought to her daughter as she sent a small sense of comfort her way.

He raised an eyebrow in surprise, hearing what Jihlala said. "You're a mother yourself? Didn't suspect that at all." He chuckled a little and sat down in a chair. "Tell me, how're they doing?"

JN: "Oh sweetie, I'm forty. If I didn't have a munchkin by now I don't think I would! But you'd've liked him. His name is Rigel and he's about-" She held her hand out about even with her rib cage with a flourish of her black-clawed hand. "-This tall. Very handsome, long black hair, dark eyes, green skin, you would've liked him, Jasmine~" She teased, giving the young girl a quick wink. "He plays rugby. You guys play any sports?" (edited)

"Fourty? Damn, I really guessed you at a younger age." He chuckled a little and leaned back slightly, crossing his legs as he layed his hands on his stomach. "Well, he sure sounds like a sweet kid."

"I don't know... Maybe." She said as she stopped hiding her arm, now showing the pitch black metal that took its place. "Well, I do athletics. Pretty good at it too."

"Pretty good?! Jassie, you got first price last competition, what do you mean pretty good?!" He exclaimed in protest. "My tennis however could use some work..."

"Jordan, sweets. You're a great player for your age. I don't think your dad could beat you if he were your age." She said from the kitchen, putting some cups of tea on a platter as she spoke.

"Wowww, couple'a all-stars there Georgia!" She cooed, giving the tactical officer a wiley grin that spread the gold of her lips wide across white teeth. "Maybe we'll see you two someday at the Olympics, yeah?" While she of course had no idea how good either of the kids were, it wasn't without some good-natured goading that she encouraged them. "You got some hidden talents you wanna fess up to, Georgia?"

"Me? Oh goodness no. I'm just your average advisor that has a tactical background. I haven't done any sports for a while." She said as she walked in with the platter and placed it down on the table. "One thing I can do however, is make good tea. So enjoy!" She chuckled a little and sat down next to Jihlala on the couch. "What about you? Do you do any sports? Hidden talents?"

"Olympics? Hell, I never thought about that." He said with a chuckle, grabbing a cup of tea and taking a slight sip. "Let's try the European Championship first, ok?" He said with a little wink towards the kids.

Whilst Jihlala was speaking, Jordan was getting rather fascinated by the fact that Jihlala had green skin, but golden lips! That was, in his mind, very awesome! But how? Most green people he saw also had green lips. He better not ask before he says something wrong.

She checked her PADD and chuckled a little. "Hey Jasmine, you've always been the more sciency person out of the four of us. Want to visit the labs? A good friend of mine would love to show you around."

She lit up, happy to have been given the opportunity. "Yes! Yes yes yes!" She got up and went to the door before stopping and looking at her mother. "They're waiting outside, right?"

"Yeah, I think they are. Have fun!"

She gave a nod and walked out of the quarters and into the hallway.

She hummed with a peasant smile, taking one of the offered cups between both hands and gently inhaling the sweet smell of the brew. Truthfully she was a black coffee sort, but she would be hard-sold to decline the offer of anything Georgia would make. She took a tentative sip before briskly changing subject. "So, what's the plans for this week? How long are you guys staying and should I try and find a boyfriend and shack up with him for the time being so you can actually visit without having to be so polite?"

"Micheal and the kids are staying untill after the Christmas ball. Jasmine might stay for longer regarding her telepathic training. And please don't think you're a bother. Micheal and the kids have personal quarters, they won't be a bother to you."

He smiled and gave a nod. "Few weeks, then we're gone. We won't try and bother you. You deserve your privacy and your own room, we won't kick you out of your own quarters, that'd be very rude." He laughed a little.

"Wait, what? You're not rooming together?" She asked incredulously, looking back and forth between Georgia and her husband. "I won't have it, you need to be together! I'd pitch an ever-loving fit if my husband n' kids were boarded away from me!" She gasped, holding a few fingers to her collarbone in shock. Rude it might be, but if she even had a husband, she'd be kicking every roommate she had out so that she could have alone time. "Do you not know how easy it would be for me to catch a cot in sickbay?"

She looked at Micheal for a moment before looking back at Jihlala. "Jihlala, dear. Micheal and I discussed this beforehand. You can stay here, Micheal and I will sleep separately. He snores anyways." She laughed a little and grinned at Jihlala. "Don't beat yourself up about it. I'll have plenty of time to go join Micheal in bed in his quarters. Just for tonight we'll sleep separately."

"Yeah, it's now big deal. We have a few weeks anyways. What's one more night?" They didn't seem bothered by it in the slightest.

Ava entered with Jasmine. “Hey, all. Here we are again.” She smiled softly.

She smiled at Ava, giving her a quick hug before walking to her mother's room. "Thanks for this amazing day!" She said before disappearing. She needed some time to get all this processed.

"Welcome back, Ava. How was your day with Jasmine?" She asked with a curious smile, giving Micheal a slight tap on his shoulder to get him active.

"Oh, right." He gave a nod and a quick smile, putting his tea down. "Excuse me." He then went into the room with Jasmine to comfort her. The beauty of having an empathetic wife.

Ava smiled at the family. “Hey, the day was great! Jasmine is so intelligent and we definitely need to talk about the possibility of having her stay here as my assistant.” Then, her smile fell a little, “I should tell you, though, there were two… situations today. Which were probably pretty overwhelming for Jasmine. She assured me it’s fine, but I still fee like I need to apologize I got her into such situations.” She rubbed her arm a little embarrassed.

She gestured to the chair opposite of her. "Take a seat, please." She had a worried look on her face, quite curious what had happened. "Mind telling what exactly happened?"

Ava sat down and began talking. “We went to the labs and I showed her the ammonia synthesiser. She immediately understood its workings and helped me operate it. She’s sharp! Then, we looked at some samples. It was all very nice, she helped me a lot.” Ava sighed, getting to the bad part of the story. “And then, Commander Styre came in. He made a fuss about how I needed to get an authorisation for visitors in the labs. He’s right. I should have followed protocol, I shouldn’t have been so spontaneous. I will say, however, that Lieutenant So immediately gave me authorisation when I requested it! Anyways, Styre and I got into quite the argument.” She shook her head. “I’m sorry Jasmine had to witness all that. Two half-Vulcans fighting, that must be a lot of intense emotionality, even when Styre doesn’t show it. So, that was too bad. Anyways, he left and I calmed down and it all went back to a better atmosphere.” Ava perked up a little. “Lieutenant So came in as well, spoke with us about some planet she’d been surveying. I believe she sees the same potential in your daughter that I see.” Ava smiled. “Well, and then, Austin came to ask me some questions about previous research.” Ava blushed and chuckled. “I… haven’t had the chance to tell you, but… I went on a date with him recently. And it went really well. Jasmine was quick to pick up on that. She doesn’t hold her tongue, does she?” Ava smiled a little once again. “Not that I mind.” (edited)

"Well, at least you two had a lovely day for the most part. I myself still have trouble keeping focus when highly emotional people start having an argument. And seeing Jasmine still needs to learn how to control her empathic abilities, I could only imagine what she felt. Must've been a lot for her." She said the last part as a near whisper, thinking what her next step was going to be. After a second however she snapped out of it and smiled happily, happy for Ava. "You have a date and you didn't tell me? Ava, I'm offended. I could've lended you one of my dresses so that you would look absolutely fabulous! No doubt you did anyways." She chuckled a little. "And no, I'm afraid she got that from me. She really does speak her mind, even when she knows it may not be the answer people would like to hear. On the other hand, she's a great keeper of secrets. I told her a few and she hasn't told them to anyone else! So if you need confidential information transported manually, she's your best friend. Doctor Yamateo really appreciated that fact seeing the entire doctor-patient confidentiality thing."

“There was also another situation,” said Ava, “The lift was quite crowded and there was a Jem’hadar. I think Jasmine got a little spooked. So many people in one spot must have also been hard for her. But I can tell you, she handled both these situations so well!” Then, Ava blushed a little as she addressed the other part of what Georgia has said, “Yeah, well, yes. I know, I really wanted to tell you, but… To be honest I was a little surprised myself. I haven’t gone on a date in years…” She shook her head, snapping out of it. “Anyways. This isn’t about me. We wanted to talk about the possibility of having Jasmine stay aboard. What are your thoughts? Especially now, with both of these situations having happened… You should probably also ask her again. Whether she really wants to stay.” She still felt a little bad that Jasmine’s day hadn’t been perfect.

"Truth be told, I think that's only more reason for her to stay on the station. She needs to learn how to handle these kinds of situations. And the station is, in my opinion, the best place to train her. No rituals, no strict teachers, just friends. I'll discuss it with her soon, but her opinon and my own are the same 95% of the time." She smiled a bit and looked at Ava. "Listen, don't feel bad because this happened. It was bound to happen one day. She needs to learn how her abilities function, and that takes time. I can train her, but I can't teach her everything. Maybe you, or someone else, need to help her. This will take time, patience and a lot of determination. If something goes wrong, it is a lesson for her. These few incidents? Same thing. She's an experience richer and now knows that these situations happen. With proper training she'll probably be able to handle them even better than today."

Ava nodded with a smile. “Alright. That’s all good to hear. You know, I’d really love it if she could stay on the station.” Her smile grew. “I don’t usually like people assisting me in my work, but… she’s special.” Ava stood up. “I think Austin is waiting outside for me. But please let me know whether Jasmine will stay! In that case, I’ll ask Starfleet Command to give her the rights and duties of a civilian officer, so that she can become my assistant.”

"Something tells me those are her words and not yours." She laughed a little and got up as well. "I'll make sure you'll be the first to know. And from what I've heard, she'd absolutely love it to keep on being your assistant. I'll see you around, Ava."

“See you, Georgia,” said Ava with a grin, “Thanks for everything and get back to me soon! I’ll see you around.” She waved and left.

The door chimed.

Georgia walked up to the door and opened it, smiling at the lady in front of her. "Why hello there. Can I help you miss...?"

“Hey there! Quickwind Delivery Services. Got a Secret Santa for Lieutenant Hill.” The woman in courier uniform said with a smile. She was holding a wooden box with something etched into it, but because of how she was holding it the design was concealed.

"That's me! Do I need to sign anywhere, or...?" She said a she raised her eyebrow slightly.

“Not at all! Here you go.” She said, holding out the wooden box for the woman to take. “Happy Holidays!” She said, continuing her smile, before giving a wave and heading off back to her hovercart.

"And to you!" She said, giving a wave as she brought the box inside and set it down on the table. "Soooo, what's this then?"

[D] It’s a beautiful wooden box of high quality with an image of an owl etched into it. There is no colour to the box but the natural tones, no sharp edges as it was made to be without any metal fasteners. The top of the box would be able to be slid off to the left to reveal the contents within.

She let out a curious humm as she let her finger glide over the engraving before sliding the box open. What secrets did it hold?

[D] Inside the wooden box there was a carefully curated box of bath salts, oils, scents, dried flowers of various origins in separated bags, and many other bath amenities that are directly geared towards rejuvenation and relaxation. In the midst of the collection there is a note that reads, “Hill, I hope you may be able to put these to use after long days either on shift or in training. Remember that as a tactician it’s not only your body that needs to be ready, but also your emotional and mental wellness. Take care, Stone.”

She smiled softly as she read the note before putting it back inside the box and picking up a few scents and giving them a quick sniff. These really did smell great. This gift was going to be put to great use, that was for sure. "Computer. Set a reminder for tomorrow afternoon for sending a message to miss Stone." She said with a bright smile on her face as she closed the box. She wanted to thank the commander for her very generous gift.

Hill, concerning your daughters internship here at the labs in this station. We have decided a day of approximately six hours with about a ten to fifteen minute break in between. For about two weeks Jasmine will focus on one subject of science. Before switching to another subject, please have her inform us which subject she would like to go to next at least three days prior to the switch. Is this schedule good for you and Jasmine? When Aella reached Georgia's quarters she rang the buzzer and waited for an answer.

"Come in, please!" Georgia called from the kitchen, walking out into the main living space of her quarters.

Aella stepped into the room and waved to Georgia. "We meet again, Ms. Georgia... I need advice. I made someone mad.. again."

"Right." She gave a nod as she cleaned her hands off with a small towel before tossing it back in the kitchen. "Take a seat, please. Tell me what happened." She said as she gestured to the couch. Time to do what she was best at; advising people.

Aella took a seat and sighed, holding her head with her hands. "I really messed up... I mentioned genocide. Zhimata-- umm I mean Eshen, he was giving me friendship lessons. One rule was not to mention genocide and when i was talking to Mr. Whidbey I mentioned it. He got mad and kicked me out of his quarters. I-- I just wanted to talk... he hates Dominion and I know nothing about Federation morals."

"Well, dear, a lot of people still hate the Dominion due to the genocide they did. That's a fact. Betazoids, Humans, Bajorans, Cardassians, you name them. The only place where we mention them is either during history class or when a mission needs the additional information. Your people did cause a lot of suffering after all, whether you like it or not. And that suffering is carried over throughout the generations." She sighed and sat down opposite of Aella. "As for Federation morals, I suggest you freshen up on them. There are tens upon hundreds of books about them, surely you'll be able to read some in order to understand us better?"

"I have read all the Federation material available to me," Aella paused. "I.. I guess there is a difference between cultures. What the Dominion sees as just preserving our empire, the Federation sees as genocide. I know what we did was wrong but it's very difficult to see things from the other side sometimes.... I want to apologise to him but I don't know how."

"Go to him, say you wish to talk about what happened and apologize for what you said. Speaking of, what did you say to him that made him throw you out of his quarters? I haven't heard him be that mad ever before, I believe." She raised an eyebrow and leaned back in her seat.

"..... I said something really bad," Aella's voice got soft. Had it been any other time in her past 4 lives maybe she wouldn't think twice, but after having a whirlwind of emotional events she was, dare I say it, developing a conscious. "I'm a product of the Founders. Their beliefs are my beliefs, it's hard to unlearn it. I said the Cardassians had it coming and that the Dominion in a way, helped push their society over the edge so they could rebuild--" Aella did feel bad, honestly. "But hear me out! I can see why it was wrong now, but you know sometimes it's difficult. I was a mindless drone and now I need to have my own opinions, it's hard not to fall back on my own past beliefs... or what the Founders programmed me to believe."

Georgia talked in a soft and gentle tone as she explained the following. "Aella, dear. I'm not the one blaming you for what your gods did. But I do believe it would be best for you to--"

And here comes Jasmine! Popping out of her room like a devil in a box! "Hey mom! Hey Aella!" She grinned at the two women as she gave a small wave, with her one arm that was. Her cybernetic one was seemingly gone. Also the little kid seemed to be covered in grease, or something like that.

"Jasmine, little grease monkey of mine, could you please go back to your room? I'm trying to give some advice to someone." She said with a warm smile, looking over at her daughter before looking back at Aella. "Sorry for that."

Aella's expression suddenly changed when she saw Jasmine. She grinned and waved to the little girl, for once her expression was geniune. "Hello Jasmine,"She greeted before turning her attention back to Georgia and switching back to serious and sad Vorta mode. "Oh it's alright, your daughter and I have met. She's very sweet," For once Aella sounded... normal? There wasn't any ulterior motive hidden in her words, no lies, she was genuinely fond of Jasmine.

"Still, I'd rather not have her here at the moment." She returned her attention back to Jasmine. "So would you please? I promise I'll take you to the café after all this, ok?" She said with a smile.

"Ok!" She grinned and went back to her room, closing the door with a hiss.

"Alright, so. I do believe it's best for you to tell him that you don't support what had happened, but you can't change what did happen. Explain to him that it isn't your fault that you were made to belief that what happened was correct. You didn't have free will at the time after all."

"... I don't know if he will really talk to me again," Aella said with a long and exhausted sigh. "He said I was disgusting and he never wanted to see me again,"Were there.. tears? Forming in the corners of her eyes? Aella told herself she wouldn't cry anyomre, but all of this excitement was taking a toll on her smooth Vorta brain.

"With all due respect, but if he doesn't let you apologize to him, he's an ass." She said in a serious tone. "Otherwise I'll talk to him, because everyone deserves a chance to apologize, even you."

Aella's expression brightened up when Georgia said that. She actually... Cared? Up until now it felt like only Eshen really seemed invested in her growth. Maybe there really were people willing to give a Vorta a second chance. "It's difficult sometimes.... To differentiate what was programmed and what is genuine. I wish the Founders had fixed the Vorta like they did the Jem'hadar. They were the fiercest soldiers of the war but with free will they're thriving... Why not the Vorta too?"

"No need for soldiers doesn't mean there isn't a need for diplomats. That's the way of life." She said with a slight sigh. She knew that all too well as strategist.

"... How can you tell the difference between programmed ideology and your own personal views-- or maybe for solids it would be what your environment taught you versus what you actually feel."

"Nature and nurture are almost inseparable. You cannot have one without the other in modern times. In your case I'd look at what you've learned from the start opposed to later on in your life. Maybe there's a difference."

"I am not sure... The Founders work on mysterious ways and I've lived for over a hundred years," Aella didn't really know where to start. "I wish there was a way to forget everything that happened in the past, maybe then it'd be easier to be nicer to people," Aella said, her frustration clear in her voice as tears began to form in the corners of her eyes.

She switched seats to sit next to Aella with a gentle smile. "Hey, it'll be fine, dear. I'm sure we can figure something out to be able to fix all this. You and I will make sure that our Chief of Security will hear your apology." She layed her hand on Aella's shoulder in a gentle manner, trying to reassure her.

Aella nodded and looked at Georgia. Why was this woman so nice to her? Solids were such unpredictable creatures. "o-okay.... maybe I'll message him later.. I'm still learning a lot of things and I'm still a Vorta. I don't know why people expect me to change overnight, I love the Founders and it's hard to go against what they programmed me to think and say."

"I'm not asking you to change overnight. I'm asking you to think about what is the actual you and what is part of what the founders made you believe." She smiled for a moment, looking at the Vorta.

"I feel like every part of me was created by the Founders, right?" Aella looked at Georgia, tears still in her eyes. "Everything... Except.... My friends.. .well, the few friends I have. I chose them and... When I was Aella 2 I chose my appearance. Those were the only two times I have ever made a choice. How did you decide on your hobbies, your favourite things?"

"That's... a difficult question, dear." She flashed a quick smile before continuing. "Usually one goes around and tries out new things that seem interesting to them, and if they enjoy it a lot and in turn do the activity a lot, it becomes a hobby. Think of swimming, drinking a cup of tea with a good book, or even roleplay! It could be anything."

"Hmm... I have tried walking by the ponds, reading, philosophy--" Aella began to list the things she had done before it came to her. "That's right, before the borg arrived, I was trying out swimming! Georgia, maybe I need to try that again. It was... Stressful, but the water was nice," What was that ensign's name? Maggie? "And your daughter, she talked about... running? Across buildings? Hmm perhaps I would be interested in trying that out too. If you would allow me to join you that is."

"You're most welcome to join her, though I must warn you that free-running isn't for the faint of heart. If you can't stand heights or a high amount of adrenaline, you'd do best to stay away from it." She said with a warm smile.

"I will think about it," Aella said with a smile. "I think I wanna try swimming again-- there is someone who was helping me. Thank you so much Georgia, maybe once I get more confident I can try that free-running... maybe."

"I look forward to hearing from you again afterwards. And if there's anything else you wish to talk about, don't be afraid to approach me. My door is always open." She smiled warmly at the Vorta. Seems like she really did care.

"I will definitely!" Aella said as she stood up. "Thank you, Georgia. I will try my best!" A big wave of motivation swept over her before she darted out the door, this Vorta finally a had new plan! Swimming, that's what it was!

Renakir looked down at his PADD and then at the room number on the wall. This was the correct place it seemed. He readjusted his sunglasses and pressed the buzzer, awaiting a response.

Georgia opened the door with a warm smile on her face. "Ah! You're that Ops officer I requested, no? For the couch?"

Renakir bowed his head when he saw the Lieutenant, his expression remained neutral. "Yes, that is correct. Jolan tru, Lieutenant Junior Grade Renakir Solait Torre'vnau. And you must be Lieutenant Hill?" Renakir put his PADD down and looked at the woman who stood before him. He briefly scanned the station's manifest before his transfer, but it was hard to keep names and faces straight.

"Please, call me Georgia. I'm not on duty after all." She smiled and stepped to the side. "Do come in!" She said as she gestured to the inside of her quarters, her smile growing ever so slightly.

"Alright, Georgia," It seemed a bit odd to address a senior officer by her first name, seeing how he was currently working, but he did not wish to question it. She seemed friendly, a sweet tone and clearly a welcoming hostess. Renakir stepped into the room and looked around to survey the area. He turned to Georgia and then looked down at his PADD. "You requested one couch, correct? Please show me where you would like it and I will arrange transport."

"Yes, of course." She said as she walked over to the current position of her current couch. "So, this old piece of cloth needs to go, and then I want the new couch a bit further back. It's a corner couch after all, so pushing it back gives a bit more free space." She said with a smile, turning over to the lieutenant. "Can I offer you some tea in the meantime?"

Renakir listened to her words as he tapped away at his PADD with the specifications of the new couch. Perhaps it was the temperature or maybe the lights, but Renakir was using all his energy to keep his mind on the task at hand. So focused his floppy ears almost didn't catch the woman's offer. "Oh, tea? That would be nice," Renakir responded, his whole face and ears now dyed a light shade of green. He really didn't want to stay here longer than he had to. It was the temperature, definitely the temperature. He was always like this when he made 'house calls', focused and professional.

"Any prefered flavour?" She said as she walked to the kitchen, putting on the kettle. As she did so, she lowered the temperature within the room for a moment. She absolutely noticed the blush on his face, so she decided to make him a bit more comfortable.

The lower temperature was definitely a relief for the Romulan-Reman hybrid. Was the blush on his face a hint? Renakir couldn't help it, as much as he tried he couldn't fight his own biology. No amount of meditation, Vulcan or Romulan, could change that. Especially when his preferred temperature was 10 degrees below 0 Celsius. "Anything you offer will be sufficient," Renakir responded as he transported the old couch away and began to transport the new one in. It was only then that he realised Georgia wanted the new couch further back-- Gahh, how could he make such a mistake. He put his PADD down for a moment and picked up the couch to move it. A strong boy, he was really here lifting the world.

"Sure thing!" She said from the kitchen, making two cups of rooibos tea. Quite sweet, but with a slight hint of spice. She picked up the two cups and walked on over the the living room. When she saw Renakir move the couch, she smiled softly and put the two cups down. "Let me help you with that." She walked over to the other side of the couch and helped him move it further back.

The aroma from the tea filled the room as soon as Georgia entered. Rooibos tea, earth. Interesting choice. Renakir did not expect her to help him, but he did not say anything. With Georgia's help they were able to move the couch into the appropriate spot. Easy, well, mostly, Renakir had to readjust his glasses after that. He honestly should have just worn his contacts with his damn sunglasses always falling. "Thank you, I suppose this couch and placement is sufficient?"

"It's perfect. Thank you, Renakir- can I call you that?" She said with a warm smile, offering the cup of tea she had made to him before sitting down in her new couch, sipping some of her tea.

Hearing the other address him by his first name actually brought a slight smile to his otherwise stoic and emotionless face. He plopped down on the new couch and took the tea cup from Georgia's hands. "I would love that-- it is very alright for you to call me that," Renakir honestly could not express how much he appreciated it. Perhaps it seemed a bit strange to outsiders, but 'Renakir' was his Reman name and he always took pride when people said it.

"That's great to hear. And don't be afraid to call me Georgia at any given time. I hate all that "Lieutenant this, Lieutenant that" deal. Besides, there are more people with my rank, but there aren't many with the same name and rank." She chuckled softly, taking a sip from her tea as she looked at Renakir. "Tell me, dear. What brought you to 777?"

Social situations were not his favourite if he was to be honest, especially when he was technically still working, still this woman was kind and offered him tea. As always he turned his head away from the other when he took a sip and held his other hand in front of his mouth. He was not here to scare the nice lady, after all. "I was reassigned from the Sagittarius," Renakir stated plainly, keeping his professional tone. "Perhaps they thought it would be good to station another Romulan here. At least that's what I thought," The assignment was probably just a coincidence, but as Renakir always said coincidences happen every time but he doesn't trust coincidences. "And what about you?"

"Got posted her after my posting at HQ. I guess they wanted my tactical expertise here opposed to there." She said with a soft smile, sipping some of her tea before putting the cup down and looking at Renakir. It was quite obvious that he was hiding something within his mouth, but she wasn't going to pry. It could be personal after all, and she didn't want to seem pushy. So she let it be for now.

Renakir turned back to Georgia and just held the tea cup in his hand. He did not expect to be offered any beverages and he was not going to refuse this nice lady. Still, he felt like he was in an awkward position trying to be polite whilst also wrestling with his fear of upsetting the other with his appearance Would Georgia really judge him? Probably not, but Renakir was self-conscious. “How long have you been here? It seems you have gotten quite comfortable here," Renakir commented, wanting to know a bit more about her life on the station.

"I've been here for a few months now, working away, writing new strategies in the hopes of outsmarting the enemy. You know, just your day-to-day routine." She gave a light shrug as she sipped some more of her tea, leaning back in her seat. "I have my daughter here, my husband and son are back on Earth having a grand old time I imagine. So yes, I suppose I did become quite comfortable here."

She was married and had two children, but her son and husband were on earth? Interesting. Renakir suspected he was younger than Georgia, but he couldn't help but feel a bit out of place still being a bachelor at the age of 29. Maybe it wasn't strange for aliens, but at this point in his mind he should have had at least 2 marriages. "Why is your daughter here and not your son? I suppose having a whole family on the station would be a bit difficult to manage, but then again I can't say I have ever considered starting a family," He was engaged since birth as most Romulans did, but marriage was never something he desired for himself. Too dangerous. High risk of assassination, probably.

"Yes, she is here and he isn't. Reason being that she needs telepathic training and he doesn't yet. It would make most sense for her to spend time with the telepathic one of the parents, no?" She said as she raised her eyebrow slightly, taking another sip of her tea. "Right now she's at school, but she'll be back soon enough."

Did she say 'telepathic'? Renakir's defenses suddenly went full force, using all his mental training to block out his mind. Was this why she was offering him tea? She must have known he was Romulan maybe this was-- He was just being paranoid. This woman was a Starfleet officer, telepath or not. But he had suspicions about her daughter. "Telepaths, so you must be... Betazoid? I am sorry I do not have much experience with telepathic races."

"I am a Betazoid, yes. Though my husband is Human, which makes my kids a 50/50 blend of genetics." She said with a soft chuckle. If Renakir was paying attention, he'd know that Georgia meant no malice. She's as kind as anyone would be towards anyone. Besides, there were rules against using telepathy without consent.

A Betazoid married to a human, an interesting combination. Although Renakir was not here to judge mixed unions, especially being the result of a very strange union himself. "Ah so that is why you are teaching your daughter telepathy. How noble of you, I wish my mother could have done the same for me," It was true that some Remans did possess telepathy, although seeing how Renakir never really knew his immediate Reman family he had no way of knowing if they possessesd such a skill. Of course Romulans and Remans alike had superstitions and theories about telepathy amongst their races, but Renakir had his doubts they were any more than just paranoia.

She gave a nod and took a sip of her cup before putting it down. "Hm." She hummed before continuing. "Well, it's only one's task as a mother to stand with her children, no? They need guidance, and I provide it." She said with a warm smile. "A shame your mother didn't train you however. Perhaps we could do some training together? I'd be willing to help you."

Renakir put his tea cup down as well, only having taken a few sips. He may have been good at keeping a straight face the whole time, but the scratch marks on the side of the cup from his teeth were pretty noticeable. He diverted his gaze away from Georgia, still very hesitent about letting this woman get close to him. Ahh, the paranoia lifestyle. "Telepathy is frowned upon within Romulan society and Remans have been outcasted for it. As enticing as the offer is perhaps it may not be wise for me at this time. Although-- I heard Betazoids are empathic. I would be interested in learning about your techniques."

"I don't think there are any, I'm afraid. It just... Well, happens. No turning it off, though you can focus on one person at the time if you concentrate enough. Other than that, not much to it really." She smiled warmly at the man in front of her, looking at the cup for a moment in order to determine whether or not Renakir needed a refill. Instead she spotted the scratches on the cup. She raised her eyebrow slightly and looked back at Renakir. "I don't mean to pry, but you musn't be afraid of showing your teeth here. To hide who you truly are can be quite self-harming."

"They say Romulan empathy is triggered by touch, I am honestly not sure if it is true or just superstition," Renakir said thoughtfully as he leaned back on the couch. He was just about to ask another question when Georgia mentioned his teeth, making him sit up again. He was full defense now and was suddenly feeling very shy, more than usual. "I apologise," Renakir spoke softly, unable to hide his feelings in his voice. "I did not want to alarm you," He said as he readjusted his sunglasses. Even though this woman seemed nice, he still had his defenses up. "I am sorry for ruining your cup, I usually do not eat or drink in front of others for this reason."

"Renakir, dear. It's fine. I'm not scared of you, nor am I upset that you scratched my cup a bit. It's just a cup after all. I could replicate a new one without an issue." She smiled warmly and looked at him. She really had that motherly attitude, didn't she; always caring, always trying to comfort. No man could stop her from doing so. "Trust me, I've seen things that are a lot more scarier than teeth. So no need to be shy of them here."

Was this a trap? or was she just being genuinely nice? Renakir looked at Georgia through his darkened sunglasses to see if he could spy any hint of deception on her face. He had been through this many times, people saying he could show their teeth but then turning around and teasing him for it later. Well, she was a Betazoid and they were not known for lying or deceiving, maybe it really was just his Romulan paranoia. "Alright... Thank you. It is something I used to get teased about quite often," Renakir said as he lifted his tea cup again to drink his now cold tea. It was good. He looked at Georgia again to see if she would react.

She smiled warmly at Renakir and picked up her own cup as well, taking a sip. "How's the tea?" She eventually asked. Seems like she wasn't bothered by his denture in the slightest. In fact, she was showing a little pride. Pride because she was proud of Renakir to get a bit more comfortable. She wasn't someone that wished to make others uncomfortable, in fact she tried to do the exact opposite.

Renakir still had his mental walls up, but the tension in his shoulders eased up as he finished the tea and placed the empty cup on the table. "It was very nice, thank you, Goergia," Renakir gave the other a soft smile, showing his lovely razor sharp teeth this time. "I really should get back to my duties. I have a couple more pieces of furniture to deliver," Renakir said as he stood up and grabbed his PADD. "I hope you enjoy the new couch, sorry I can't stay longer. I would like to learn more about empathy though, maybe I could figure out if I do possess such ability."

"And I'll be willing to help you find out if that's indeed the case. My door is always open for you, dear Renakir." She said with a grin before getting up. "Your teeth look nice by the way." She whispered, smiling brightly. She really did mean no harm with her actions, that much was very clear by now.

Renakir couldn't help but blush a deeper shade of green when she complimented his teeth. This was the second person to do so! Was everyone on 777 this nice? He swore his last assignments were not as open with compliments like this. "Thank you so much Georgia, please have a nice day," Renakir said before heading out into the corridor. Next stop, Eshen K'Tann's quarters to give him a new wardrobe.
