This was home, it seemed. She removed her PADD and navigated to the section with her digital keys, then swiped it at the door chime. The door slid open on its own. It was enough. A bit small for her tastes but she was just happy that she wasn't hotbunking on some ship somewhere out in the middle of nowhere. Shower to her left, desk to her right, bed in front. No replicator, though. Sapraris couldn't hide her disappointment. It would seem she will have to find a way to be promoted, then. She was certain that the officer's rooms had replicators. She spent the next bit packing up and getting her room ready.

Finally. The place looked a bit more like herself now. Various memorabilia of both human and vulcan heritage, along with several other cultures and symbols of achievement throughout the known federation, decorated her shelves. She had even brought string lights to hang up and give the place a bit of zest, and she strongly considered hanging silk curtains around her bed. It was fantastic in her eyes, but the comfortable nature was casting a lull over her that she didn't want just yet. She had yet to receive a duty roster. She should at least be awake for that. So, she switched into something more comfortable than her weary old uniform and made her way into the corridor. She wanted to be outside. Not in a holodeck, but something physical and pretty. Her PADD displayed a few search results as she queried her longing into it, and a destination came to show. The Butterfly House. She hoped it was aptly named. Tapping on the destination yielded the most efficient route, so she started for the turbolift by passing into the #junior-quarters-corridor.

[D] He had just been transferred, and he wasn't sure quite yet how to really feel about that. He wasn't sure what he was supposed to feel about that. Of course, he was nervous, but then again, he was always nervous! (Maybe he should see someone about that now that he was here, it never hurt to get some help after all). What mattered was that he was there, on a Starbase, and that he needed to do his job. He could do that, he told himself over and over again as he started to put up his things, his posters of the stars and his pictures of his friends. By the time he finished, he thought his room looked comfortable, not too cluttered, of course, but perfect for him in this new chapter of his career. Rather satisfied, he flopped onto his bed and pulled out his PADD to read some book to pass the time.

[PADD] To: Haruki Seiza From: Randy Lovell Howdy! Just wanted to drop ya a line and see if you were up to coming to the barbeque that my brother and I are hosting in the holodeck later! I’d love to continue our conversation from before all that crazy computer virus nonsense back on Rapture LOL! We’ll be in holodeck two if you’re interested! Hope to see you later, Randy Lovell

[D] Haruki read the message when it came through and smiled, yeah, that sounded like a great idea. He would love to go, he just needed to... psyche himself up first...

[PADD} To: Haruki From: Randy Sweet! There are a bunch of places on the ranch that shouldn’t be too crowded if you don’t want to be around tons of people! But, no rush or expectations, I think it would just be fun to hangout again! …Don’t mind my rambling LOL! If you end up not being able to make it, just let me know and we can meet up later! See ya cutie! Randy

Haruki was not sure whether he was a 'cutie' or not -- well, really he was leaning towards not -- but he would at least attend the barbecue! (Until he got overwhelmed and needed to leave). And so, he donned a simple white tee, an old athletic zip up, some jorts, socks, and sandals (of course), and walked out of his room.

At the time he entered his section by using the digital key. His roommate wasn't there so he strolled in with all of his items from his former post on the USS Granite. Richard put the clothes where he was supposed to put them, then put his items on his desk. Once Richard unpacked all of his personal belongings, he sighed as his tiredness took over. Then suddenly, boredom floated into his mind as his first shift wasn't for another couple of hours. Richard ended up deciding to go to the training room to pass the time. He would then climb out of his bed and slowly wander around his section to clean himself. After all, Richard got ready and left his quarters to go to the training room.

After some basic familiarization with the major areas of the starbase, Lokka ended their tour at their room. A quick key-in confirmed that this was, in fact, their room, though it seemed already occupied. They weren't used to sharing living quarters, for on their time on Valencrao Beta, they had their own room. And for good reason, too. Lokka figured not many non-Vulcans wanted their quarters turned into a meditation space. That is if.... actually, they had no idea what their roommate would be like. No reason to jump right to assumptions. After they keyed in, Lokka just stood in the doorway, already in uniform and with a small bag on their back containing their few belongings. They gave the room a quick scan, assessing the condition and current occupants in an almost mechanical process.

Richard just finished his long security shift on patrol feeling extremely relieved and tired. He entered the quarters not noticing Lokka and he immediately fell into his bed for a moment. Richard felt tired so he layed there for a minute or two before looking up noticing his new roommate."H-ello there. I didn't notice you, my apologies"He sat up and looked at Lokka feeling dumb.

They had stepped out of the doorway to allow the door to close before Rich made his entrance, but they were still giving the room a thorough examination to check if it's up to their standards. Still, it didn't make any sense to them that he'd walked right past without noticing the 6'8" CEO-of-lank Vulcan in an engineering department uniform inspecting the room like it's a faulty warp core. Lokks gave a slight turn of their head in response, followed by a raised eyebrow. * "Greetings." *About as empty and cold as a Vulcan could sound giving a greeting, but at east they don't seem hostile.

Richard looked at the vulcan"Nice to see my new roommate, what department are you in?"He looks at their uniform for a second and sees that they are also a Ensign which was good. He also finds out they are a vulcan through the lack of emotion.

If Lokka didn't wear their hair so long, perhaps their heritage would've been clear earlier! They gave their response in the plainest, most matter-of-fact way. Very typical. "Engineering. And you?" They look like they're about to spew something about how Engineering and Security have the same uniform colors despite doing completely different jobs, but they don't know Rich isn't an engineer yet.

"I'm in security. I know it's hard to see the difference from just uniform."He responded, then he stood up and walked to the replicator to stand next to it. He wanted some kind of drink but he was too tired to think about what drink he wanted exactly so he stood there waiting for an answer from Lokka while he thought about it. But Richard did respect the engineering department as they do more important duties to the station that he does according to himself.

Yes, that was highly illogical. To use uniforms as an identifier yet having two different departments use the same color. But, that was to be expected of an organization designed mostly by humans. Lokka followed Rich over to the replicator, glancing back and forth between him and the computer on the wall. It seems like they can feel his indecisiveness.

Richard's tired mind thought about it for a minute before deciding on coffee."Coffee, sweet."He stood by the replicator waiting for a moment before picking the coffee up. Then he took a sip of it and looked at Lokka"So how was your shift?"He wanted to start some conversation
Avatar
Ensign Lokka | ENG BOT 29-Jul-23 02:03 AM
"I haven't had a shift here yet." They ordered something immediately after Rich did. Some vaguely beetroot-scented plomeek tea.

"Oh yeah."He begin drinking his coffee, taking a look on his PADD at messages and any important information. Richard had no idea on what to say to a vulcan if he could be honest. He thought about it for a moment while drinking his coffee.

They could sense the lack of inspiration, for it was something they dealt with commonly when speaking with other species. Understandably, sometimes it's hard to continue a conversation indefinitely in a logical manner, and the ideas run out. They settle down nearby, curious if Rich has anything else to say but not wanting to just lean over and snoop on whatever he's doing on his PADD. Cue a small sip of the plomeek tea.

"Well. Did you come out of the academy straight here or did you serve elsewhere?"Richard wanted to hear some backstory to Lokka. He had around 6 years of experience on an destroyer for starfleet. It was more than enough for him to have on a ship like that. He drunk the coffee and put the cup down before paying attention back fully.

They raised an eyebrow. Expressive, yet not emotional. "Which academy? I attended the Vulcan Science Academy first, spent five years in a research outpost on Valencrao Beta, and then began my career with Starfleet afterwards."
