Funnily enough, it was her first time on a Starbase, at least, her first time spending a long amount of time on a Starbase. She had been on a ship – the USS Zenith – for approximately 4 years, but they rarely stopped at stations unless they needed to restock their supplies for one reason or another (it was a ship plagued with numerous problems after all). Much of the time she spent in Starfleet was spent going from one place to another, zooming through the stars and going where none had ever been before. But, she had transferred off of that ship, and away from that life. The starbase had a good reputation – at least, according to her previous supervisor – and she was looking forward to working under someone a little… less… eccentric (not that she would ever talk like that out loud). Her new quarters were a little more roomy than what she was expecting, a little more spacious than what she was used to on the Zenith, and she hoped she would be able to make them look the way that she wanted. After all, she had brought decorations with her, numerous decorations that would help her make the space her own, even if she could only really decorate her own side of the room, she would not dare to ruin any relationship she might possibly have with her new roommate (even if she knew that she would probably find some way to do that all on her own, her pension for driving away potential friends was unmatched after all). The next few hours were spent decorating, however, moving things around so they better suited her, finding a place for the… rather large… tropical plant that reminded her of her home on Risa. There were strings of lights, there was colorful bunting, her collection of makeup was set out in its own little organiser for when she inevitably needed it. Everything was turning out just the way she wanted it to, and that was enough to bring a smile to her face.

A Secret Santa gift arrived for Liaxaho: The gift that was delivered for Liaxaho’s Secret Santa was a rectangular shape, medium size, and pretty heavy. The exterior was wrapped very neatly in shimmery dark-green paper. Inside there were a series of old, paper-style hardback books encased in an open-front box, all bound in a jacket of a similar green and embroidered with gold stitching. It appeared that they were made to be matching for collectors. The books were thicker than the normal ones though, for on the left page there was a translation in Betazoid script and on the right page, the original Standard. There were five books in total: - A Study in Scarlet: The first of the Sherlock Holmes books by Arthur Conan Doyle, written in 1887. - The Blue Cross: The first of the Father Brown books by G. K. Chesterton, written in 1910. - The Mysterious Affair at Styles: The first of the Hercule Poirot books by Agatha Christie, written in 1920. - The Murder at the Vicarage: Technically not the first appearance of Miss Marple, but the first full-length novel dedicated to her; another written by Agatha Christine but in 1930. - The Secret of the Old Clock: The first of the Nancy Drew books, written by the pseudonym Carolyn Keene in 1930. A hand-written note had been placed on top of the box, written out in neat writing.
Merry Christmas! I can’t believe that there’s a detective on the station. I think that’s just the coolest job. Did you know that Earth has a major thing for detective novels? These are the first books for some of the classics. There are tons of more of them. Maybe you’ll find a favourite! I hope you enjoy these, and if you’d like any more then here are the reference numbers for their book series. You can quote these at the library to get the next one! From, Your Secret Santa. : )
