Making his way downtown-- actually it was just north of the Reman district that Renakir found himself. He was 'on the run', but nothing about his appearance hinted at that at all. Neatly ironed dark green trousers paired with a stupid disco ball patterned blazer, he looked important but it also kept him from sticking out too much. Romulans took great pride in their appearance and what seemed overdressed for the Reman district, was actually appropriate dress in the Romulan district. His hair looked as neat as ever, a nicely trimmed undercut that showed off his floppy little Reman ears. To avoid drawing any more attention to himself, he had removed his sunglasses and was just walking around letting the sun literally burn his eyes. It was terrible, but 'sunglasses' was definitely going to be an identifier if the police were looking for him. Renakir rubbed his eyes as he strolled along the lake in what seemed to be the back of a house. Hopefully no one was going to perceive him, he just had to get to the next bus stop so he could get to the Ih'lagga district.

The house was actually Satok's... and a rather unusual romulan child that was likely lurking about. He was on the back deck grilling some replicated hot dogs, wearing a pair of sunglasses and a small white apron to keep his romulan clothes from being stained. He was part of a well-to-do family and dressed well all the time. He didn't see Renakir, however, too engrossed in his grilling to care. "Joel... get me the shovel from the shed in the back. Don't throw it into the lake again or I'll ground you..." He said in a tired tone.

"Yessir! I'll get it..." He scooted off of the deck and zoomed like a rocket down towards the lake, completely ignoring the shed. Like a bat out of hell, he blew down the path to Satok's canoe, Renakir directly in his path. He skidded to a stop before Renakir. "What are you doing on my dad's property? It's not a public lake... he'll be mad, very mad," he said, making a mad face.

Renakir stopped in his tracks when he noticed a small child coming sprinting towards him. In typical Romulan fashion he took a giant step back, well beyond stabbing range. Romulans were one thing, Romulan children were an entirely different animal. He bared his sharp teeth at the child, pulling out all the intimidation techniques. "Step back," He said in a low growl as he narrowed his beady little silver eyes at the boy. "I'm just passing by," His expression suddenly softened when he realised just how young the boy was. His emotions were just... Very strong. He closed his mouth and hugged on his sleeves trying to keep the macarons he had hidden up them from falling out. "I'm going to the bus stop past this lake, I am not looking for trouble."

"Daaaaaad!" He yelled after seeing the sharp teeth, remembering stories his dad told him about vampires as horror stories. The kid was shaken, truth be told. Renakir looked weird, too weird for a Romulan. Part Reman? Joel's fearful expression softened, look going to a curious one as he stepped closer. He didn't want to step back, curiosity doing more. It would only be a very short time before the father arrived... "The signs said no trespassing... my dad put Earth fish in here and doesn't like it when people steal them. No passing by, you let him ask you what you were doing here," he said. If only Renakir knew how much Joel was exaggerating. The boy looked like he would pounce if the other tried to run.

Honestly he knew very well that he was terrifying to look at, especially when he showed off his sharp teeth, but he was still surprised when the boy screamed. He quickly covered his ears, why were children so loud? Now this kid's father was going to come, great. Time to book it? No, the last thing he needed was a Romulan chasing him, that alone gave him horrible flashbacks. When the screaming stopped Renakir took his hands off his ears that were twitching ever so slightly now and frowned. "Earth fish?" He sighed and mumbled some words in French under his breath. Oddly enough it was the language he mainly thought in. Renakir was the most French Romulan after all. "Listen, I'm not here to steal your fish, kid. I'm just trying to get to the bus."

He made his way over with his spatula in hand, barbecue sauce around his lips. Renakir? What was he doing here? An unusual soul to be seeing, especially at his lake. Did the other check Satok's records and come here purposefully? He burped lightly before dapping his lips with his napkin, Joel naturally going as quiet as a mouse. Satok looked like the American stereotypical griller... if one had pointy ears, greenish-tinted skin, and a rumply forehead. "Renakir? I didn't think I'd see you. Rather interesting way to meet my son..." He gazed at the boy and gave him a soft 'what did you do now?' look. He looked back at Rennie. "Having a decent shore leave?" He asked, personality calm and happy as always.

Renakir was honestly just about to book it as fast as he could until he saw a familiar face. Was that-- Satok? The voice matched, the other was dressed... Oddly, but that would explain the terran fish in the lake. Every time he saw the earth-Romulan he had to do a double take. It was certainly Satok, that's for sure. His eyes widened as he tried to process just what a strange coincidence this was. No, coincidences did not exist in Romulan society, this was clearly some sort of set up. Quickly he thought back to the series of events that took him here. He wouldn't have had to pass through this area if that Reman on the night bus hadn't fallen asleep on him, and then that Romulan woman with the baby who kept trying to grab Renakir's ears. Could it be Satok had paid all those people off just to ensure Renakir would get off at the New Mirek stop? He narrowed his eyes as his expression turned from surprise to suspicion. "Interesting is definitely a word to put it," He clicked his teeth ever so slightly as his gaze went from the officer to the boy. "Since this is your home I don't suppose you wouldn't mind me passing through. I'm heading to the Ih'lagga District."

He grinned slightly and shrugged after the other talked about passing through. He didn't mind, Renakir was a friend in his eyes. He rubbed his nose and sniffed. "I don't mind that you're passing through. Though... why don't you stay awhile? I'm grilling some wonderful food and relaxing around, wouldn't mind a familiar face hanging around," He replied with a smaller smile, motioning to his elevated deck area. He was friendly as always. The man also wouldn't think of paying people to get Renakir to cross through his yard, it seemed foolish and a waste of time.

Another invitation to stay-- well it was certainly better than the opposite. Renakir sighed and carefully crossed his arms, making sure not to budge the four macarons that were still stuffed up his sleeves. Two silver eyes blinked at Satok as the Romulan-Reman boy thought of an answer. He then looked towards the deck area that the other had motioned toward and tilted his head. "I'll chat but please, no food," He was trying to refuse politely. Renakir already had enough going on, he didn't need the anxiety of eating in front of others on top of that.

But no food. Why did Renakir always refuse his food? He started to feel insulted but hid this, not wanting to create waves. It was also slightly odd to him that Renakir would simply show up out of the blue... and want to go immediately. Huh. He slid his apron off and held it in front of him, wearing rich and high-class clothes through and through. He was expecting someone else soon or he wouldn't have dressed like that. "No food. I won't force it on you thought it is good. Also... I figure you should meet Joel officially. Joel, this is Renakir... works in the same department on my starbase and is a friend of mine. Renakir, Joel, my son. Eldest son," he said nonchalantly.

"It's nothing about you, I'm just umm, Not hungry right now," Renakir half lied. He ate macarons earlier , he was still hungry but he didn't want to insult his friend. He stood awkwardly in front of Satok, a tall grey skinned boy staring at a Romulan man and his son. He held onto the ends of his sleeves as he stood there like 🧍‍♂️ "Hi Joel. Sorry for scaring you, I'm Reman," He spoke with hesitation again. Renakir rarely looked this lacking in confidence but he was really going through something. He couldn't even find it in himself to smile or anything, instead he just stood awkwardly.

The boy perked up and looked at Renakir, politely stepping back. It was clear that Satok was raising the boy to be respectful to everyone regardless of species or background, a good thing. "My dad says that the Remans were maltreated by the Romulans for a long time... but you don't look like a full Reman. You have hair and..."

He noticed the distinct lack of sunglasses on Renakir's face, a concerning thing. Wasn't he unable to see well without them? Or be in constant pain? Satok sighed softly and offered his own sunglasses (Romulan fashion, plain sunglasses that didn't let others see in but let the user see with reduced sun. "Here, Renakir. Sun is especially strong today, please wear these."

You have hair and.. Renakir wished he could just sink into the ground at that very moment. Maybe he should have just booked it like he planned. Getting drooled on by a fourth infant on some crazy Romulan Greyhound bus sounded pretty great right about now, he thought. "I'm a hybrid, I know I look weird," He snapped, baring his sharp teeth once again at the young boy. Renakir was terrible at socialising and it was evident now more than ever. He shook his head again and turned away when he realised he was being scary again, why did he always do that. It's just Romulan children teasing him was.... "Sorry umm... I know you're curious but it's really not nice to say those things, we hybrids get enough questions from the government as it is." He shook his head and dug around his pockets to show the other that he did indeed still have his Reman sunglasses. "I have my own, I... I don't need them right now," He lied, pretty horribly but he was barely able to focus on his thoughts.

[D] And so they chatted for a while, the duo going their own separate ways as Satok tried his best to avoid offering his food.
