"It was very nice, it made me hungry though," Rilek tilted their head from side to side, seemingly thinking about something. It was the forbidden spaghetti of the Cardassian man-o-war jellyfish. If the venom wasn't so lethal, maybe they'd try. Or maybe they could replicate spaghetti that looked like the tentacles. Anyway, they laughed when the dcadet mentioned catfish. "Catfish? Is it a cat or a fish?" Rilek asked a genuine question, never hearing of the fish before. As much as they liked to claim they knew about earth and other planets like it, there were still a lot of animals they did not know. Earth especially had a weird habit of naming animals after things that were clearly not that animal.
"My job is to communicate with the Republic on behalf of Starfleet. It is a position usually held by someone from the other faction. So in my case, my position would most likely be held by another Romulan or someone who is knowledgeable about Romulan culture," Rilek explained, continuing to speak slowly so that Randy could pick up each word. Thankfully they were only drinking sparkling lemonade so they could continue to have their wits about them as they spoke. "How lovely of you, I am sure your crewmates are happy to hear you speak such beautiful Rihannsu," Rilek said, genuinely very impressed with the human's desire to learn their language. It was not an easy language and with the tensions between the Federation and the Romulans, up until recently it wasn't very useful unless someone was going into diplomacy. "Well if there is anything you would like to learn, I love teaching people. Romulan culture can be difficult sometimes," Rilek explained as they curled their fingers around their glass, all ten sharp metal fingers clicking together made quite the sound. "I realised we never introduced ourselves. I'm Rilek, and you?"
