Victoria was, by this point, several drinks down and properly in the swing of festivities. For whatever reason, she found herself skirting the edge of the ballroom, mostly to have a look at the decor beyond the bar, perhaps toying with the idea that she might find someone to dance with.
Oh, but instead, between the blurred faces and glinting lights, she caught the eye of someone she'd only seen not too long ago; someone who, given the nature of their meeting, she wouldn't have minded never seeing again. She was used to it, never seeing those she would rendezvous with again, after the fact. Really, her judgement told her to turn and leave. The rest of her, however, was apparently at least curious, and stayed put for far too many seconds.
