A coffee date, huh? Good thing Gliqqigug's was open to the idea! Jayselle and Mavna were led to a table near the front of the store, where they could overlook the promenade, sipping coffee as they people-watched and chatted for the first (but hopefully not the last) time!

Mavna thought it would be a good way to settle in and meet people by getting involved with the blind dating event, considering it popped up around the same time she showed up in the base. Serendipity! The doctor took a seat, part of her excited and another part of her just the slightest bit anxious. What if this doesn’t go very well? What if it’s actually pretty cool and they go on a second date, or just become friends? What ifs, what ifs…she took in a breath. It’s gonna be alright, Mavna. And she’ll get some coffee out of this!

Arriving mere moments after Mavna, Jayselle was admittedly rather apprehensive of how this blind date might go. It usually went against every single core belief she held to jump head first into the unknown like this, but after mulling over the idea for a while she had decided to sign up anyway, even if only to try something new. Being guided over to a table near the front of the store, the Orion/Aenar, wearing a light purple, high neckline, short sleeved pegged below knee-length dress, matching purple heeled pumps, a leaf design golden choker necklace, and a matching leaf design golden arm cuff, the taller of the two greeted the other Orion hybrid with a polite smile as she sat. Take initiative. "Hello, I'm Jayselle." She greeted, sounding not at all like she'd rehearsed that at least 20 times on the way here in her own mind.

In contrast, Mavna was wearing a pair of jeans, with a flannel she had buttoned up halfway and slightly tucked in. It wasn’t like she was averse to fancy clothes, or dressing up for a date. This was just what was comfy for a coffee date! And, well, this was certainly a coffee date, and Jayselle was dressed to the nines. Looked pretty, though. “Mavna,” She said softly, her voice a bit huskier than most. She’s a beautiful trans girl who hasn’t voice trained all the way, and I love her. She gave the other Orion a tired but pleasant smile, “You look nice! Is uh- Is purple your favorite color?” She said with a tilt of her head, curiously grinning up at Jayselle from where she had sunk just a little in her seat.

As she sat down Jayselle couldn't help but feel a tad... overdressed? But considering how she had little in the way of experience when it came to going on a date, and that her culture and tradition typically dictated any environment other than a coffee shop, she didn't exactly know how else to present herself. Oh, also her hair was extremely neatly tied into a fancy looking ponytail. Despite the contrast in their appearances, the taller of the two hybrids couldn't help but find the other quite nice looking, her antennae idly moving as her mind whirred away and processed her thoughts, as well as how exactly she was meant to conduct herself. Thus far she felt like she was approaching the entire situation wrong. "As do you." She replied in turn to the complement, polite smile still affixed to her face. "I don't particularly have a favourite colour to be perfectly honest. I have a wide range of options in my wardrobe, and I tend to pick whatever I'm feeling like in the moment. Of course, not all colours compliment my hair or skin, so I have to take that into account." Oh stars damn it, she was rambling about clothes. Certainly not something she should be doing right out the gate. "...Do you have a favourite colour?"

Mavna wasn’t complaining. A pretty girl having coffee with her wasn’t going to upset her in any timeline. She leaned her head into her hand, her smiling deepening, “Happy to be nicely looked at,” She said with a soft chuckle, before folding her arms down and resting them on the table as Jayselle spoke. Oh, she must have a lot of pretty clothes. Only fitting, she supposed. There’s a joke in here about the princess femme/knight butch, though Mavna doesn’t have a clue Jayselle’s any form of royalty. It’s funny, when she was younger, Mavna thought she was royalty. Good pirates made good money, “Pink, I like pink. Kinda…coral-y pink,” She spoke with her hands, gesturing when the descriptor came to her mind.

'Happy to be nicely looked at' was not something she had expected to hear, but Jayselle had admittedly not known what to expect, so this entirely experience as a whole was quite new. As soon as coral-y pink was mentioned about twelve different outfits the Orion/Aenar owned popped into her head, pleased to be making some sort of connection with Mavna already despite it only being over a colour thus far. "Oh, I have a fair few articles of clothing in that colour. One of my favourite dresses is actually coral coloured, it's quite lovely." She replied, her polite smile seemingly, subtly shifting to more of a genuine one. "It's a very pretty colour, and it works well on numerous levels with numerous other colours, so it's good for making up various outfits."

It’s nice to see a proper smile instead of a practiced one. Mavna met Jayselle’s smile with one of her own as she began to speak about coral, idly thinking to herself as to what that dress may look like…well, it’d look coral. And probably pretty nice. “Maybe you could show me sometime,” She said very genuinely. She was interested in what this dress looked like! If it sounded a little flirty, then so it did. They were on a date, after all, “I don’t wear dresses a lot myself, but I like, uh…looking at them, pfft. I’m more of a suit girl myself.”

Yes, yes it did sound a little flirty. But Jayselle didn't mind in the slightest, and in return her smile got just a tad more playful and genuine. "I wouldn't be opposed to that." She responded genuinely. As the Orion/Bajoran hybrid spoke about how she didn't typically wear dresses the Orion/Aenar was starting to pick up on her vibe, especially with how she was currently presenting herself. It was a nice one. The comment about liking looking at dresses spoke numbers, and it didn't take a genius to figure out why she had been paired up with her for this blind dating event she'd signed herself up for. "I have a couple of trouser suits now that I think about it, or, well, suits that have both trouser and skirt options available. I tend to go with the latter, but the former is far more practical when it's windy." She replied, chuckling softly as she did.

“Call it a fashion show, then,” She replied, just a little coyly. She could grab a few of her outfits too and dance around in a fancy-looking suit, or maybe one of her more traditional outfits from when she was visiting home. Regardless, the conversation at hand, “I can imagine, pfft.” “I used to be a little cagey about wearing suits, but skirts don’t really give me the oomph I’m looking for,” She shrugged, before sitting up a bit, “Did you wanna order something, by the way?”

Jayselle tilted her head sideways just a tad as if to agree with the idea of calling it a fashion show, quite enjoying the thought, albeit having never done such a thing before, even in private. Understanding the concept of certain types of clothing not giving people what they want, the hybrid nodded in response. She too had experienced that for a lot of different outfits over the years. When she was asked if she wanted to order something the realisation suddenly dawned on her that they were, in fact, in a coffee shop right now, and that was usually the thing you did at such establishments. "Oh, yes I suppose that'd be smart thing to do considering where we are right now." She responded with a soft chuckle. "What do you fancy having?"

“That’s usually what people tend to do when in a cafe, yeah,” Mavna replied with a grin, “I’ll have to check over the menu, but I usually go for something iced,” She stood from where she was seated and adjusted her flannel to look nice and presentable before walking over to Jayselle’s side of the table, offering a hand, “Tag along?”

Something iced... Noted. As Mavna stood, Jayselle watched as she adjusted her shirt and as she walked over to her side of the table. Eyes glancing down at the outstretched hand, and then back up at the Orion/Bajoran, regaining eye contact, a surprisingly yet more genuine and admittedly slightly playful smile spread across her face as she took the woman's hand somewhat daintily and stood up. "I shall." She responded as she looked at the shorter woman.
