Star Trek: Starbase 777

In the picnic area, one of the picnic tables had been set with a white tablecloth, the benches made comfortable by red and white checkered pillows. A cooler in the shape of a traditional picnic basket had also been prepared, and it should immediately be clear that this was where Hanneth and Mira were supposed to go, when they walked up.

Hanneth arrived a bit early, having anticipated the turbolift or other places being busy, but he had gotten lucky enough. He wore a simple mossy green t shirt with a v neck, and tan casual pants with comfortable boots. He wore a necklace that matched his Bajoram earring, and a simple bracelet as well. His dark hair was kept back with a bit of product, but not shiny or messy looking. He sat on the bench of the table, legs facing outward so he could easily stand when the other person arrived. He wasn't nervous per se, but was at least looking forward to meeting someone new and a potential friend. He took a deep breathe of the clean air, and let it out slowly.

She walked up the hill to the picnic area and she was nervous. She pulled her dress and she adjusts her little sunhat with a soft smile, she was hoping this would go well. Once she made it to the top of the hill she smiled.

Hanneth saw the woman approach and snapped out of his day dreaming. He stood up gently, and with one hand halfway in a pocket, he simply raised and waived with the other. After all, what else do you do with your hands that's perfectly normal? "Hey! I'm Hanneth." He smiled warmly as he greeted her and waived.

She smiled "Hi I am Mira It's nice to meet you." She replied with a small wave.

"Nice, to meet you, Mira! Love your dress and sunhat." He said genuinely. "I don't know about you, but I am definitely hungry. Shall we see what's been set up for us?" He smiled and went over to the picnic basket. He unmatched the cooler picnic basket and popped open the top, looking inside.

She nodded as she took a seat "Thank-you I have not been on a picnic in a while so I was not sure on what to wear." She admitted nervously

"Oh I get it. It took me a while to figure out my outfit then evetually I just made a choice and went with it, or I'd have neber made it.He chuckled ". You look gorgeous so you picked well." He pulled out some of the food and drinks, and the plates ans cutlery and set about putting them on the table. "This all looks pretty good!"

"It looks like there is a mix of food Bajoran and Human." She spoke as she took a seat and she smiled in an attempt to hide her anxiousness

"Ooooh! I hope this salad is from my home region. I may be biased, but we do make some the best greens. It's a lot like lettuce or spinach." He said as he waived a side salad container before setting it down. "Looks like we have some bean dip here." He checked the label. "These are made from beans high in protein. Good source for folks that don't eat meat." Hanneth leveled a lopsided smile at Mira. "And the correct chips to go with it! I would have been insulted if it came with anything else." He said quite lightheartedly as he set down the container of purple, square corn like chips. "I may not he able to cook worth anything but I am a snack food afficionado, if I say so myself." He said somewhat self depreciating. Hanneth chuckled and the lopsided smile turned into a lopsided smirk, he was enjoying himself. The area was gorgeous, the food looked yummy, and he was getting to meet someone new. He started pulling out the human food containers, unsure of what any of them were at a glance. "What kind of food do you like?" (edited)

she smiled "I like anything and I am willing to try new things too." She replied as she pulled out a peach pie and lemon bars as well as what seemed to be fresh Kimchi and pickled pears with cheese and chorizo. "Whoever organized this knows us well."

"I'd say so. You are welcome to try any of this of course. They gave us spare plates and serving utensils too, it seems!" He finished fidgeting with things nervously and set about serving up some of the Bajoran dishes onto his plate. "I do like the cooler too. Looks like a basket. Need one of these for back home, I think. Nice artsy aesthetic and very useful too, for going out on chill walks or wanting to stop at a good spot somewhere."

"I do too." She replied as she served the peach pie and other dishes. She was nervous and she fiddled with her hair

Hanneth divvied out the other dishes he had as well. "How long have you been on the station?" He asked as he nearly dropped the serving spoon for the bean dip. "Alternate question that isn't one we all hear. What is...." He paused for a moment in thought. "The most odd food combination you have made that surprisingly works?"

She smiled "I have been on the station now for three months and a surprising food combination I have made work is Chorizo and Bajoran Bean dip." *She replied "What about you?"
